1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Malabrigo drop-stitch cowl on: October 11, 2013 01:05:06 PM
I've been on FIRE lately!  I'm on a yarn diet, which means no more new pretties until I use up some of the yarn I already have...so that means it is time to get to work!

Malabrigo Rasta is probably one of my all time favorite yarns.  Here is another drop-stitch cowl in the colorway "piedras."

There is no solid pattern here.  Ever since I learned how to do the drop-stitch technique on a scarf, I've been experimenting with it in other garments.  I had intended for this one to not be so long, but I think it looks nice regardless.
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Fauxthropologie Fox Stole on: October 10, 2013 06:07:35 PM

Behold, the Fauxthropologie Fox Stole.  It took me FOREVER to finish it...but I'm really pleased with how it came out.  Made a few minor adjustments so it would be more like a scarf than a stole (made the body quite a bit longer)

You can find the pattern here:  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fauxthropologie-fox-stole

3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Camp Out Fingerless Mitts! on: September 26, 2013 03:24:05 PM

Behold!  A pair of Camp Out Fingerless Mitts!  Yarn used was Noro Silk Garden Lite.  You can find the pattern here on Ravelry:

I'm going to try to make another pair using different yarn.  This pattern was quick and fun to knit up.  Cheesy
4  UNITED STATES / Washington / Where is everybody?! on: August 25, 2013 11:54:00 AM
It seems like no one has touched this thread in over a year!

I just moved to Seattle from San Diego.  I lived here many years ago, but I've been away for almost five years.  I really want to make some new crafty friends...would anyone be interested in scheduling a meetup?

Please forgive me if this isn't the right place to post this.
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Skittles Cowl! on: July 30, 2013 10:05:19 PM
It's been a hot minute since I've posted an FO!

I call this the Skittles cowl...mostly because the rainbow colorway reminds me of a bowl of skittles.

Just a regular ol' drop stitch cowl in Malabrigo Rasta Arco Iris!  I didn't use one particular pattern...The drop-stitch technique is pretty easy...I just casted on about 48 stitches, joined in the round, knitted in garter stitch for a few rows, added a row of knit 1 YO twice, then repeated until I felt it was long enough.

I'm super obsessed with this colorway by Malabrigo.  Every single skein looks different.  I love it!!

Action shot!

Thanks for looking! <3
6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / A few batches of soap! on: May 28, 2013 10:10:33 AM

Check out these beauties!  The black soap is tea tree charcoal facial soap.  Behind that is some orange eucalyptus, sweet rose (had to rebatch since the fragrance made my soap seize..but gave it a nice texture) The brown soap is orange vanilla honey.  A local beekeeper totally hooked me up with some wonderful honey for soap at a pretty reasonable price.  Smiley

I used a combination of olive, sustainable palm, coconut, and shea butter.  I really love making cold process soap.  It has quickly become one of my favorite hobbies.
7  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Help! My soap is seizing up! on: May 20, 2013 11:26:49 PM
Ok, so I have this ONE particular fragrance that my customers adore.  Unfortunately, that fragrance makes my soap start to thicken up within SECONDS of adding it, and it ends up being all chunky and gross.  I'm able to rebatch it every time, but that's a bunch of extra work that I would rather not do.  This only happens with this rose scent I get from saveonscents (which is HEAVENLY)...any advice on how to avoid this?
8  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Lotus Tile on: February 17, 2013 03:51:50 PM
Before starting this project in my contemporary crafts class at the college I attend, I have never worked with ceramics before.

Behold, the lotus tile.

Hasn't gone in the kiln yet (my school waits until the kiln is mega full before they fire that baby up) and it will probably be a while before it does.  Not sure what I'll do with it next since I'm terrible at painting.

Let me know what you think.
9  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Palm-free soap? on: January 22, 2013 08:50:37 PM
I'm just beginning my journey in soap-making.  Took a class on it, and I fell in LOVE.  I got a really lovely recipe from the class, but there is one problem...I don't want to use palm oil because a lot of it comes from the rainforest!  What would be a good substitute for palm oil? I was thinking maybe increasing the shea butter, but I wasn't sure.  I tried searching for more information on this on craftster, but came up empty-handed.  Any advice?
10  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Ball-jointed doll swap (Pullip/Blythe, Obitsu, etc) on: March 29, 2012 02:31:37 PM
I'm thinking about organizing a BJD swap.  I need some theme ideas and such.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Here are some similar swaps from the past:
