1  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Craftsters and Zinesters wanted for melbourne warehouse party! on: May 03, 2008 01:29:21 AM

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Re: Bizarre piece of Victorian Kitsch *New* With picture of matching earrings! on: October 02, 2007 12:42:46 AM
The Victorians were also quite into Memento Mori jewellery - the Latin means remember you will die so, the jewellery is worn as a reminder of one's own mortality.
There's an interesting jeweller/artist here in Melbourne called Julia DeVille who does similar things - it's not for everyone, but I think her work is really amazing; confronting and exploring death instead of burying it...
This is her website if anyone is interested: http://www.discemori.com/

the red lace definitely makes it - and you definitely know how to throw together an outfit Smiley

That is a seriously cool mirror, by the way!

5  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Re: Copic Markers? on: August 20, 2007 02:17:54 AM
Hi, the bookshop at Swinburne Uni in Prahran sells Copics for $7.50, they have a really good range, and if you chat up the guys who work there (tell 'em Hannah sent you) they might give you a discount Smiley
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Honest opinion? Sweater to cropped vest recon on: December 20, 2006 03:35:26 AM
That really is very cute, and doesn't look like a recon at all.
What do you mean when you say you felted it in the washing machine? How is this done?

Halfway through making a corset based on you tute, and it looks surpisingly great! (My doubts were based on my ability, not your great tutorial!)

oh yeah... the book is amazing. So much better than the movie (and especially the, er, "sequels" that followed...) I just re-read it a few weeks ago. Perrilin the night forest is my favourite... *sigh*

Wow, that's awesome! I always love the stuff you make, but this one is extra cool! (Granted, I am obsessed with spots, black white and red, buttons and corset lacing, so you're pretty much ticking all of my boxes here!)

btw, is that AURYN tattooed on your inner forearm? oh so cool...
