1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Vogue Spring/Summer 08 Preview is up. :) on: March 10, 2008 07:10:13 PM
It's here!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Mystery pattern on: February 18, 2008 04:06:58 PM
Someone on Ravelry saved a pic of an interesting cabled sweater she wants to make, but can't remember the source.  She guesses it's from about 3 years ago & that's it's a published (not free) pattern.  The link is to her flickr, so suggestions & comments there are probably welcome. Smiley

ETA: Someone found the exact pattern in Austermann Stricktrend 16, pattern 22 fall/winter 2001, but Norah Gaughan also confirmed that she has a similarly constructed pattern in VK, which she'll hunt up the info for. Smiley
3  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Apothecary Raglan from Knitscene Winter 07/Spring 08 KAL on: February 02, 2008 01:29:47 PM

I don't know about you, but I enjoy knitting different looks. Smiley

The Apothecary Raglan sure qualifies!

I think this a great project to knitalong to, what with the entrelac and endless ribbing--I know I need encouragement! Smiley

Here's my WIP (click to see larger):

I'm doing this in Plymouth Boku, colorway 10, all on US 8s because I'm small and the pattern doesn't provide measurements small enough for me.

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Flight of Fantasy/Pegasus - awesome new shawl pattern from Sharon Winsauer on: September 10, 2007 10:28:21 AM
I just got this e-mail with the coolest lace shawl pattern EVER.  I adore Sharon Winsauer's work (she did the Heere Be Dragone shawl & Winter Wonderland).

The pic isn't up at her website yet, but I'm sure if you look for the current catalog (it's free on the website), she'll have added it! It's $15, but well worth saving for!

I e-mailed and asked about the yarn, she wrote
I used most of  two skeins of  Fino, (alpaca/silk lace weight  875 yds / 100 g). I would say it probably takes about 1500 yds depending on how you knit.

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / FYI KnitPro is back up! :) on: August 11, 2007 09:46:35 PM
Just got an e-mail: knitpro, www.microrevolt.org/knitpro/index.php is back! Smiley

picky internet. link fixed.
10  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Autumn Rose in Simply Shetland 4 (Eunny Jang pattern) KAL on: August 04, 2007 03:04:47 PM

Here's the recommended yarn's colors: http://www.simplyshetland.net/Jamieson-2PlySpindrift.html (so you don't make the mistake I did in looking for a greenish color when Peat is dark reddish! Roll Eyes).

The book is Simply Shetland 4 at Tomales Bay from Jamieson's http://www.simplyshetland.net/KnittingBooks.html (also where to buy for Americans & Canadians).

Pic of the sample here: http://www.eunnyjang.com/knit/2007/03/amusebouche.html (better than the one that ended up in the book, IMO).

www.jamiesonsshetland.co.uk for those looking for recommended yarn suppliers outside North America.

The sample was made from 11 colors.  You might want to read http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter06/FEATcolortheory.html if you plan to substitute colors. Smiley

There are more places online selling the books and kits internationally now. Smiley  Keep an eye out for discount codes in magazines, also.
