11  Re: Q socks, hugging cable, etc. updated 10/9/07 in Knitting: Completed Projects by knittinfiasco on: October 09, 2007 09:23:07 PM
Modified toe-up Q socks from knitty fall 07

Knit using Cascade Fixation (I used over 1 pall per color) on US 1 (2.00 mm) circulars.

The toe-up method I used was http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTuniversalsock.html.
the process, more pics, etc. on my blog.

I owe y'all an update photo.

This is still that first sock.  The skein seems endless.  They're a smidge too big for me & I refuse to frog back with this yarn again, so they'll be going to my sister's if I ever finish them. Smiley

13  Re: Zimmerman KAL?? in Knitalongs by knittinfiasco on: October 02, 2007 11:01:01 PM

Someone returned The Opinionated Knitter today (yea!). So I present  the beginning of the Baby Surprise Jacket in Paton's Canadiana, color 0150.  It's exactly 3 oz & happened to be the right gauge. Smiley

I'm glad someone wrote alternative directions because I'm paranoid & worried I'll count wrong somewhere!

I'm excited about the cardigan in the first pic and the snail hat, too!

14  Re: Tilted Duster from IK Fall 07 in Knitalongs by knittinfiasco on: October 02, 2007 10:50:10 PM
I'm at the very end of my first skein of Cascade 220.

I didn't like the other shades the LYS had as much (there was no in-between shade of purple).  Still not totally in love with this one. Have modified a bit.  Using less sts for the skirt (have skipped making the sleeves).

15  Re: New Knit Picks wooden needle tips for its Options circulars in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by knittinfiasco on: September 30, 2007 10:20:51 PM
I got my first pair last week.  These needles have dyelots, too. :/

Mine do not have very red layers.

with flash:

no flash:

The third sections in both from the right and left are supposed to be 'red.' on the bottom needle.

The top needle is a little darker, but it's obvious that the red did not soak in as much.  Mine are probably from the second manufacturing batch (I got them after knitpicks put up a "available on..." notice).

Have started knitting with then.  Can't complain about their performance so far.

16  Re: Secret Craftster swap (Round 3) Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by knittinfiasco on: September 25, 2007 06:36:27 PM
Here are pics for dirtyprettythings' medium package (there's a delay, according to the post office at her Secret Craftster's end caused by customs at dirtyprettythings' Australian neighbors.  Undecided)

Some goodies, some glass bead stitch markers, some homemade beeswax candles and then I HAD to wrap in things in this giant Chinese food box because I made chopstick knitting needles with a custom case and added bamboo yarn!  The bamboo yarn is so incredibly soft it is hard to fathom and such a pretty silvery green colour it reminded me of wild sage!  Also this brand has patterns on their labels (which I thought was cool) so I picked out three different patterns and enough yarn to make two of the patterns I thought the shrug pattern was perfect for this yarn but there was also a scarf and a shawl!

I dont know anything about knitting so I wasnt sure about the stitch markers functionality but I figured they could always be used as just beads...they are really gorgeous when you hold them up to the light.

Late Senders!
Please send out ASAP!

Receivers, please remember to PM your organizer when you've received! Smiley (your Secret Craftster can't get feedback until we hear from you!)

I've been updating received statuses on page 1 of the sign-up thread https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=181761.0.  If your status is not correct, you need to PM your organizer!  Lips sealed

18  Re: Elann's pinwheel sweater in Knitalongs by knittinfiasco on: September 16, 2007 08:38:41 PM
thats self striping yarn, right?  I wondered how that would look.  What kind of yarn is it?

I'm glad the tutorial helped!  If you have any questions or problems when you're picking up the sleeves, just ask.  I cant wait to see how your edging will look.

That's just variegated.  Self-striping does what mine does (although this is a garnstudio pattern, not the elann version):

20  Re: Sideways Spencer from IK Fall 2004? in Knitalongs by knittinfiasco on: September 13, 2007 12:06:36 AM

Found some buttons (eclectic collection of the sort meant to replace lost buttons).

More pics on blog.  Ended up using almost 3.5 skeins of Cascade 220 on US 7 & 8.  This I customized to fit me, so it's in no way indicative of how much would be used for the 36" size.
