1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Superhero Onsies on: November 13, 2007 01:37:23 PM
This past weekend I threw a baby shower for my best friends and made them a "his and hers" basket of goodies:

For her I made a taggie, a stroller blanket, a baby blanket, bib, and some other goodies in the below fabric:

For him I made a collection of a dozen onsies, each with a different superhero symbol on them. You can see them in the basket, but  this picture of them drying, I think is better:

More pictures and links can be found at my blog if you're interested...
Also I have pictures of the shower, which I think turned out really cute too!
2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Lavender Bottles on: September 14, 2007 03:18:30 PM
First off, I wasn't sure where I should put this project, so please let me know if this isn't the right area.

Second, if you're anything like me, and you grow lavender, you probably have a ton of it about to go to seed in your yard right now. ( Ok I don't, but my Mom does, and I don't actually know if lavender goes to seed, but I think you get the idea).

Thus, it's the perfect time of the year to make lavender bottles!

It's simple little project and they smell great! All you need is some fresh lavender and some ribbon.

Basically, you gather the lavender, bend the stems over the blossoms, and weave it together with some ribbon. Viola, a self containted sachet!

I have a more detailed tutorial on my blog right now, but I would love to know if anyone else out there makes lavender bottles, or knows of some other crafts like this?

3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mutant Marvels on: September 07, 2007 03:43:04 PM
I had posted a good while back on these boards, about a Bamf doll I made .

Well, I just finished up an entire set of Excalibur (that is the British X-men for those out of the loop) plushies to keep my Bamf company!

Details about their making, individual shots, and other details can be found on my blog!

However, from left to right they are Nightcrawler (the Bamf), Kitty Pryde, Phoenix, Captain Britain, and Meggan.
Thanks for looking!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Patterns or Ideas? on: March 13, 2007 08:11:50 PM
My brother is getting married, and it's a day wedding. I had fallen for this dress that Jennifer Hudson wore at the Golden Globes and I was thinking about making a similar dress.

My questions are:
How hard is this type of dress to sew?
Do you think that I could make it out of a more day appropriate fabric, like a polished cotton?
Anyone know of any patterns that resemble it?
Thanks for any tips or ideas!
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Simple Sand Dollar Snowmen Ornament (complete w/ photos) on: November 13, 2006 03:56:52 PM
Hey everyone,

I wanted to share this easy ornament project I came up with this weekend (sorry if the photobucket picture comes out huge, I'm not sure how to change that).

It was such a simple idea, that I'm sure I'm not the first person to think it up, but I just wanted to share.

There is a tutorial on my blog:

If you make any or find ways to improve on them, please share!
6  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Red on Black? on: September 29, 2006 01:10:25 PM
Has anyone had success with using red paint on a black fabric? If so, could you help me out? I tried it with some fabric paint I had on hand, and it didn't show up. What did you do and what did you use for your success? Thanks!
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Bamf! My first posted project on: September 21, 2006 11:46:43 AM
I had been inspired to make a Bamf doll, based on the ones in the X-men comic books.

Originally I just made him for kicks, but I realized that a friend of mine who is X-men crazy and just had a little girl would be the perfect person to bestow him on!

I had searched the web and found a pattern to make a Bamf, and followed it; only to be not so pleased with my results. In the end, I made up my own pattern from the experience!

If you're really curious you can see his wips and the first one I made on my blog.

Thanks for looking!

(and sorry if the photobucket photos turn out huge)
