1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: We who are about to receive copious amounts of Yarn....salute you. on: December 31, 2006 02:31:20 PM
I've used the vacuum storage bags before, they work well for yarn. But to echo what somebody else said, make sure that they are dry before you pack them up. What I would do is get a whole bunch of the big storage bags and then find and empty closet and start stacking them up. Just make sure you label the bags first or you'll forget with that MUCH yarn!

I still haven't picked my jaw up off the ground. Please, please, please let us know when (if) you decide to sell any of it!!

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Project Thoughts... on: December 29, 2006 05:56:54 PM
I just got this super-uber pretty wool handspun that's pretty thickish. The only problem is that I've only got 91 yds of it. Any thoughts on what I could do with it besides a hat? Right now, it's enough just to pet it but eventually I'll need to do something with it. Smiley

Here's what it looks like:

Thanks in advance!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I came, I saw, I felted! on: December 22, 2006 03:50:14 PM
Huzzah! I have felted!

Sorry, it's my first time and I'm excited! I just had to share Grin
4  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: More washcloths than you could ever need... on: December 19, 2006 10:19:18 AM
They are christmas presents for the other teachers in my department. we all try to do something small for each other at Chrismas. Back in September, 13 washcloths sounded small. Smiley

Beautiful!  What edging is that on the cream colored one?  I never thought of putting an edge on my washcloths.

Thanks! That one is a Lion Brand pattern from their website. It was a lace edging. When I get home tonight I'll post the pattern name and link.

I love the red & green (?) one with the pattern that looks kinda like bricks...others are great too!

Thanks! That one is the Mason Dixon ballband pattern. It's fun but it takes longer than some of the others. That's why there is only one. Smiley

Whoever gets those washcloths will love them, but be sure to keep some for yourself.
but be sure to keep some for yourself

Honestly, right now I never want to see them again! I'll make some more in February for me.

Thanks for the input guys. My husband couldn't understand why I was so happy to be done last night. I knew you guys would get it! Smiley

Sorry, guys. I'm just so happy to be done with these. Especially with a day to spare! Smiley

6  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Holiday Panic? on: December 16, 2006 02:46:01 PM
I've got the same fear of loserness going on.  Smiley

In my department at school, all the teachers get each other something small. This year I decided to make washcloths for everyone. 13 people! I've got two more to go but as I'm knitting, I'm sitting here thinking, "Are they going to think this is stupid?"

Oh well. That TLC commercial isn't helping things either. I gave up and had to switch to another network to knit to.

Hang in there everybody!

A shawl, a bag to felt, a clutch and 5 and a half more washcloths to go. Oh yeah, and a hat too! Who needs to sleep? Grading papers? Why would I want to do that?
8  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Holiday Panic? on: December 14, 2006 03:33:09 PM
With Hanukkah starting tomorrow night and Christmas around the corner, has anyone started freaking out yet? I'm starting to get there... It's not too bad, yet. Tongue
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: new techniques in 2007 on: November 30, 2006 09:47:56 AM
This year I finally became a real knitter instead of just messing around. I've done afgans, hats, scarfs, gloves, wristwarmers, washcloths, shawls and lace.

Next year, socks and sweaters! And figuring out a better way to store (hide) the stash. Smiley
