11  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / first painted faces... on: December 05, 2013 04:39:21 AM
I havent touched my paints in forever but have been inspired by art journalists of late.  This is the first of many faces to practice before I get this right!  Its acrylic on an old webster dictionary page.

Number 2 done today....

I dont understand why these are sideways I turned them in my tablet to try and get them upright but still they load like this... sorry  Huh
12  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Altered Wine Cork Ornaments on: November 09, 2013 12:33:35 AM

I have a ton of corks and baubles around... I would love to have a swap for altered corks... what does anyone think?  Maybe create 3 corks per partner, option to have 2 partners?  I have never ran a swap before, though I have been swapping intermittently for years...

for inspiration or ideas as to what I am talking about see the following:

I was blessed with a great partner in the April hoopla swap time who went above and beyond to fix a mistake and these are her wonderful  hoops we received last week.

this she fixed by a bit of added y's

then she sent all these with a name for each of the family, dog and cats included:
these are all so awesome!
14  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / MY first ever POPPET: PIC OBESE on: September 29, 2011 02:30:47 AM
I have admired people like my fave poppet maker lanikins and their poppet creations and I finally made one myself~!  Well, I made this for a swap but the more and more I created, the more my family and husband were clamoring that they would be upset if I let her leave the family confines and that I should make another one for the swap... so without further ado, my eldest DD christened her "Wisteria":

Thanks for looking!!
15  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Toilet paper roll holder on: September 27, 2011 02:10:03 PM
I had seen these on pinterest and other places and thought I need to make one of those.  I am in the process of buying a new house and the bathroom I have dreams of creating in an aurora borealis theme since I live in Alaska and LOVE the Northern Lights.  So, I started playing with the fabric markers and this is what I came up with:

in process:

I think I would add some length of fabric to any more that I make and make the picture smaller, maybe do some embroidery.
16  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / online felt supplier? on: September 14, 2011 11:27:34 AM
Living in Alaska my suppliers are limited to Joanns and Michaels.  Can anyone give me good links to felt craft suppliers and also where can I get good tools to either make my own felt cutouts (sissix? cuttlebug?) like flowers, stars, leaves, etc, small tiny notion things I see on peoples pincushions, etc. or a place to purchase them in bulk?
17  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / ami eyes, where do you buy them? on: September 14, 2011 11:25:03 AM
Living in Alaska I have limited resources outside of Joanns or Micheals.  All I can find are plain black or black and white or brown and black.  Can anyone give me good online resources?  Thanks!!!  also for movable parts pieces for arms and legs, etc.
18  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / new dishcloth scrubbie with pattern link (untested) on: July 18, 2011 02:35:15 AM
I have always thought of making a scrubbie cloth but hadn't read a pattern.  While washing dishes today I decided to dry out my scrubbie and add a dishcloth to it, making it up as I went.  I really like how it turned out but I haven't tested it out on anything yet!  I did write the pattern after the fact, so I am not certain it will work, let me know if you do try it!  Thanks for looking, Carey

19  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Journal/journalling swap? on: June 26, 2011 04:05:12 AM
I have always loved journals, though I keep them so erratically.  I love seeing homemade journals, journal covers, bookmarks, that sort of thing.  Maybe a journal/journalling swap?  What does everyone think?
20  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Challah Cover for Make a Friend swap on: May 15, 2008 05:55:54 PM
