21  Pinwheel Hot Pad/ Potholder - retro in Crochet: Completed Projects by RecycleMicol on: June 13, 2007 12:55:21 PM
Here's mine:

Here's mine next to motleycruiser's:

I crocheted mine in about two hours of off & on crocheting.  Hers is done in Bernat cotton and mine is Lily brand Sugar n' Cream.  I am guessing that might be the reason that mine is a tad larger than hers.  She also used a nice recycled blue yarn from a sweater for the edging.  Such a nice shade!  The bright blue of the Lily cotton is a bit low-brow to go with the natural yarn, I think.  I believe it would be more suitable to go with a muted tone...or else do it completely in brights.

We should get a Crochet-a-long going for these!  I plan on making some more!!!

Okay...I hope we're not in trouble for agreeing to swap more than just two items!  MotleyCruiser and I  agreed that we wanted to craft more right from the start!

So...check out her crochet wizardry in this matching set!!!

First, it's a little shower or bath body scrubbie! (At least that's what I plan on using it for!  It's too beautiful for the dishes!)

Here's the back:

Then, there's the awesome bobble stitch cloth.  Funny thing...I made her one, too!  You can kind of see how the picots raise up off of the cloth in the top right corner.  I just love the texture!

A delightful Open Waves style.  I ALMOST made her one of these, too...but I didn't.  Good thing...I think she did a better job than I could have!

A towel holder and a handle cozy for those hot handles!!!

And the GRAND FINALE...the most wonderful hot pad!!!!   I am absolutely going to get the pattern for and make a bunch up for friends and family!!!

I'm just in awe!!!  And I'm embarrassed, since I couldn't really find any yarn in her taste, so I'm going to be sending a little 'thank you' gift along in a couple of weeks!

Motley, you rocked my socks off....and I know you will be evermore a very popular swap partner on Craftster after this!!!

Wow!  The colors, the photos, the chatchkies...sheesh!  Great job everyone!  I can't seem to get away from purple!  I have broken out into more colorways, but it is for a swap, so I must save it for later!

Here is 'Sugar Plum'

Everyone is just doing such a beautiful job of photographing their yarns...I must get some lessons!!!

Pertiful yarns as usual, guys and gals!

I've been up to other things this week, so I have a teeny bit of natural (un-dyed) hand-carded alpaca spun up.  It's .6 ounces, 35 yards of fingering-sport weight.

Looking forward to seeing more yarns in this week's gallery!

26  Re: 'OPEN DOORS' postcard; one background for ATCs re-invented by many ATCers... in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by RecycleMicol on: May 04, 2007 01:06:33 PM
I've had this one on my mind now since I made the felted gnome for the PAT swap.  I just never could find the 'perfect' picture for it.  This one works, but the execution was still cuter in my mind than on this ATC.

Yes, that's THEIR lawn gnome coming to the door.  He's been holding it for so long and just cannot wait any longer!  He's already had three tickets for PIP (Peeing In Public) and he doesn't want to risk getting caught again!

Watch out, OY, He's coming to use your bathroom next!!!  Hope he remembers to put the toilet seat back down!!!

I wish people could be inside my head to see how these thoughts come to me!  I crack myself up sometimes!!!

Fiber Friday already???  Time flies when you're at home all day...every day...week after week!  Tongue

Such great yarns so far!!!  Kudos to the beginners!!!  Oh, wait...that includes me, too!  Hee-hee!

Here's my yarn for this week.  Lots of details in my craft blog.

'My favorite things' mixed media art yarn (which is really actually huge!  It looks like a small skein here, but it's 8.5 ounces and 390 yards!

'Dewberry Cobbler' - Cashmere and Llama boucle lace weight (which is more purple than this, but the camera wouldn't cooperate.)

Oh, yay!  Here is my OTHER apron and some cool kangaroo beads from Miss_Vicki!  (Yes...besides the crocheted hostess apron and the crocheted stuffies for my children!!!)

I am totally using this one all the time!  It's perfect for my PMS apron, too because I can wear it up under my bust and my 'poochiness and bloating' will still be well covered!!!  Haahahahah!  I needed this one today, let me tell you!!!   Tongue

I love how the pockets extend past the hemline...is that an original idea of yours, Miss_Vicki???

She really does excellent work!  Check out the cute crafty fabric!

Here are the beads!  Too cute!

You can see the spinning apron that she made for me in another swap here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=162136.0

Thanks again, Miss_Vicki!  You should be really proud of all your hard work!!!

30  Re: Worth Your While Apron Swap #2 Gallery in The Swap Gallery by RecycleMicol on: April 24, 2007 09:01:47 AM
Okay, here is my Spinning Apron from Miss Vicki!  I am really sorry about the blurry pics!!!  My stepson really needs to take some photography classes!!!   Roll Eyes

Look at the perfection!  She made it just the right length & the width of the bib is spot-on!  Also, check out the way she covered all of the inside seams with bias tape!  So neatly sewn!!!!

Sorry so dark...it's gloomy today!  Here I am pretending to be carding fiber in front of my Majacraft Little Gem 2!

Here is the back:

And the details!  She hand-stitched this cool rainbow yarn around all of the outside seams!  So purtiful!!!

Thanks, Miss Vicki!  I know I'll get years of use out of this!  It's so well-made and full of thoughtful touches!  Especially the part about it being made from a pattern that I just loved when I saw it online!  That was really going out of your way to acquire it!

You rock!

P.S. I'm going to post pics of my OTHER apron she sent for this other swap in a few minutes. (Perfect PMS apron, gals!!!  Room to let it all 'hang out'!) https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=159132.new;topicseen#new
