11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Kawaii Xmas Stockings! on: June 12, 2010 03:21:44 AM
Clearly I'm pretty lazy with my posting..as these for for last Christmas and now it's practically Christmas in July (maybe if I bust mine out for July, someone will pout presents in it?!)

Anyway, I decided at work instead of Kris Kringle we should all hang stockings. Of course, people started complaining that they didn't have a stocking, and rather than give in, I decided to just go ahead and make them.. Roll Eyes

BUT, they were super cute and everyone loved them, so yay me!

Unfortunately all of these friends except 1 don't work with me anymore and have been transferred to various other stores around the place- but I hope they continue to use and enjoy them for future Christmaseses..es.
12  COOKING / Dessert / Vegan upsidedown cake, angel cake & strawberries galore! on: May 08, 2010 09:23:51 PM
Not my best photos, but hey- it was 2:30am  Undecided

One of my work friends is vegan and I feel bad that I bring so many baked goods to work and he can rarely eat any! So I decided to make him his very own special vegan apple & walnut caramel upside down cake.

The problem was, this was amazingly good. Not much of a problem, right? Well it is when everyone else downs it before 11am! Luckily I managed to savalge one piece for the vegan guy- he was the very last person to get any, haha! My boss has now advised me to "make more granny cakes" and says it was maybe my best work ever. Not too shabby considering it was vegan!

This is a 3 layer buttercake, each layer contains chopped strawberries, icing sugar, and a whooolle lotta cream. I used 3 punnets of strawberries all up! It's for my Mother in Law for Mothers Day today.

My own Mum is on weight watchers right now- and asked me not to make her anything fattening. I couldn't let her get away without having a cake so I attempted my very first Angel Food Cake! The icing is super-light cream cheese mixed with icing sugar & melted to thin it out for drizzling! I threw some strawberries in the middle and sprinkled the icing sugar over the top.

We haven't tasted it yet (I've never tasted Angel Food Cake at all actually), but it looks lovely!

Thanks for looking Smiley
13  COOKING / Dessert / Skateboard cake & RIDICULOUS giant Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake! on: April 11, 2010 12:46:47 AM

This is a skateboard cake I wrote for a 12 year old tomboy skater girl! I was fairly underwhelmed by it, but I think it turned out fine considering it was for someone I've never met & I didn't get any money for it! My mum tends to offer my services to everyone she meets..

I made this RIDICULOUS cake for my work friends birthday Cheesy I wish the photos showed the size a bit better, because this thing was HUGE. We cut the thinnest slices possible and everyone still had trouble finishing them because they were so tall! Its 4 layers of super moist chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting in between the layers, then covered in peanut butter frosting and chocolate frosting, just for fun. She loved it, and said it was the best cake anyone had ever gotten her. YAY! I hope there's still some left for me to hack into at work on Monday..mmm.

14  COOKING / Dessert / Cupcakes & Brownies & Pie, Oh my! on: September 26, 2009 12:35:32 AM
I haven't posted in SO long! Therefore I have a LOT of crap to show you guys. Enjoy!

Chocolate cupcakes with pink frosting and fondant bows for a 21st!

Fail cakes turned good! I am super picky with cupcakes, to the point where I always make at least 12 extras so I have options when some aren't perfect. What do I do with the wonky ones? Why, cover them in icing sugar and scoff them obviously!

Brownie mountain! A friend requested brownies for her birthday so I made this giant mountain, with all our faces on it Cheesy I am bottom left.

Made 36 of these for a friend's mum's 50th!

Choc-hazelnut mousse with mounds of cream for a cream loving friend!

My super easy and famous apple strudel...nom!

Delicious peanut butter cookies that melt in your mouth!

Mini Jaffa cupcakes for a Scrapbooking shop opening.

From front, Peanut butter frosted, MnM cookie-dough filled vanilla cupcakes, Lemon Meringue Cupcakes, and blue vanilla cupcakes!

My insanely good banoffee pie. Not to brag or anything..but seriously epic. Like..what dreams are made of. This was a first attempt and I was SO stoked with it.

I made 80 gold coin cupcakes and a skull & crossbones cake for my gorgeous friends pirate-themed 18th! I was stoked with the cake but my new cupcake holder squashed some of the cupcakes Sad

15  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Charles the Wall-bird. on: March 06, 2009 09:29:16 AM

Yes, this is Charles, in all his swirly-tree'd glory. I'm aware his wing is backwards, I'm weird like that. I don't tend to do "normal" much.

When I am alone and bored at 4am, I have a tendancy to paint walls and furniture. You'd think I would have learnt considering I moved out of home almost 7 years ago, and my mum STILL scrubs my old bedroom walls on a regular basis trying to get my epic insomnia-induced unicorn down. Nah Cheesy
16  COOKING / Dessert / Why do I do these things? Rubix Cube cake! on: March 06, 2009 08:56:52 AM
It was for my manager's 80's themed 40th birthday- she gave me creative freedom and I chose an 80's icon- the rubix cube! Egads, why do I do these things to myself?! My husband works nights, when he got home at 7 the next morning I was still rolling bits of yellow icing out. Hehe.

It looked tons better in real life, my camera picked up all the flaws! Of course, that was until her stupid friend almost dropped it & the cake topper fell off, broke into 3 pieces & took chunks of cake with it- BEFORE everyone got to see it!

17  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Cool idea to brighten up your walls! on: March 06, 2009 02:12:52 AM
Ever wonder how you can brighten both your mood AND lounge room in one hit? Yup, me too. In fact, that issue was constantly weighing on my mind. I've had many-a sleepless night trying to think up a solution for just that. I'm so full of shit. ANYWAY.

Yesterday I decided it would be a good idea to print out some of my favourite song lyrics of the moment and stick them up somewhere to make them smile. Once I did it, I was impressed with how cool it looked, so I did it four more times. YAY.

Step 1: Pick some of your favourite lyrics or quotes.

Step 2: Pick a favourite font and paste them onto a pretty coloured background in MS Paint (yes, I still use MS Paint- sssssh! Stop interrupting me with your schoolyard taunts!)

Step 3: Print them out in high quality on glossy paper.

Step 4: Hang them somewhere will you will see them, remember to read them and smile on a regular basis.

18  COOKING / Dessert / Blue Sparkly Cupcakes & Australia Day Cupcakes! on: February 15, 2009 12:43:00 AM

The green & Yellow two-tone for Australia Day worked out much better than I thought!

Look how pretty they are all boxed up!
19  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Frederick the Travelling Garden Elf! He needs your help! on: February 15, 2009 12:39:48 AM

Meet Frederick.

He is a rare breed of Garden-Elf. Please, do not mistake him for a Gnome. He has some terrible self-harming tendancies and cannot handle another blow to his squishy stuffed self-esteem.

Frederick was made for a forum swap, and travelled across Australia to meet his new Mummy. Many months later, He was found sitting glumly in my meter box, sobbing quietly, covered in Unclaimed stickers. He decided he needed to find himself, who he really was, and thought it was time to be brave. Frederick had gotten quite a taste for travelling on his trip, and revealed to me he would like to journey across the world, meeting new people and discovering more about himself and the world along the way.

Heres how you can help. Frederick doesnt know anyone. He needs a few places to stay, and a few people to help send him on throughout his journey. Maybe show him the sights, take a few happy snaps of him for his family back home, and give him a few souvenirs to hang onto along the way.

If you are interested in helping Frederick out by allowing him to be a house guest with you for a short while (hes very tidy, doesnt eat, and doesnt take up much space!), please shoot me an email at [email protected] with your address details.

Once I have an initial batch of people who are willing to take Frederick, I will map out an itinerary and the peoples names and locations here. When its your turn, you can take a few pics of him at your favourite locations and mail them to me, decorate him in a souvenir (eg. a brooch from your area, a new ribbon, some freckles..whatever you like), fill in a page or 2 in his travel journal, then you can mail him onto the address provided to reach his next location!

I will update his page on my blog (http://lickmycupcakes.wordpress.com/frederick-the-traveller/) with pictures and stories from his journey as he goes. I cant wait to see what crazy adventures he gets up to!

Me & Freddy.
