11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fantastic Plastic for your neck.....Part Deux!!! on: February 03, 2008 10:48:10 AM
So about 2 weeks ago I posted some of my favorite new acrylic jewels I had been making. I can't get enough of doing this, so here's 3 more!

Hope you enjoy!!!

12  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Mom's awesome Steampunk Rings! on: February 03, 2008 10:43:04 AM
So mom has been making steampunk pins for I'd say at least 15 years. Recently, she got fancy and made some rings. Yay!

All of her pieces are one of a kind and she gets all of her broken watches from family and local jewelers. Hope you enjoy!!

13  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / The Angry Cupcake Pillow on: February 03, 2008 06:58:16 AM
I really felt like making some pillows last night. Our cable was messed up so I couldn't watch UFC(which is like breaking a commandment in this house).

I found a really cool drawing on google with a cupcake saying some "bad words". I took the cupcake out, made him a stencil, and gave him some sprinkles.

The cupcake is hand stencilled onto a pink sweatshirt that I cut apart. The back is made from a dishtowel from Target's Valentine's Day line. The last picture is the back of my Trashed Clothing tags. It makes me giggle. I hope you enjoy! It is now sitting in my comfy chair.  Smiley

14  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Skele-plush! My first in too long a time! on: February 02, 2008 05:42:37 PM
Hey everyone. I got my crafty start making plushies many moons ago. I stopped for awhile, and frankly, I miss it.

This is the first I have made in quite a long time. It's a cutesy skeleton which I will perfect with the next creation. He's made entirely out of fleece and completely machine stitched. Yay!

Please don't mind the not so good picture. He enjoys sitting in our comfy chair.  Smiley

15  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Don't Cut Yourself!!! on: January 23, 2008 02:42:00 PM
I really really love sewing scarves, but decided that this red one was a little too boring. Then the light bulb went on. Razor blades would look lovely of course. Hehe.  Smiley

16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Fantastic Plastic....for your neck! on: January 20, 2008 09:11:23 AM
I used to be a shrinky dink-aholic when I was little. As I have grown to my old age of 24, I have moved on and discovered the joys of acrylic plastic. It can be manipulated wonderfully and after lots of fiddling, I always get the colors I want. Yay! It's also nice and lightweight and easy on the skin.

These are my favorites I have made over the past few months. Thanks so much for looking!  Grin

17  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / My Mom can beat up your Mom! Having a go at filigree. on: January 14, 2008 02:50:50 PM
Well, actually, she probably can't, but she does make some awesome jewelry! She has always been amazed by vintage filigree artists so she decided to have a go at it. I was at her house this past Saturday and she let me play too! She uses brass findings, glass beads, anything really!

Mom's super cool green charm bracelet made with green glass beads and random brass charms:

Mom's sparrow and star necklace again using glass beads and brass findings:

My fancy fire opal necklace. This was my first try at filigree type jewelry!

And my favorite. I used an old lock and glued a stone to it, took a small glass vial and filled it with seed beads and glued it shut. I hung it from a gunmetal chain.
18  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Keep that neckie warm! My FIRST crochet post on: January 14, 2008 02:42:52 PM
Hey everyone! I often linger around the crochet forum but mostly post in jewelry or misc. I wanted to share my favorite new projects I have been working on. I love neck warmers and decided that I would start making my own. My boyfriend laughs because I wear mine around the house, even with the fireplace going  Grin

I made them using acrylic "soft yarn" and vintage buttons collected over the years, or stolen from my mom's house. hehe

19  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I am clueless! Please help! on: January 02, 2008 06:32:31 PM
Hi everyone. I never knit anything before...EVER. When we got the issue of Craft with the Crime Scene Scarf, my boyfriend proclaimed that he must have it. I decided that I would learn to knit just to make him this scarf.

Thankfully, my Mom's neighbor grew up in France knitting all her clothes so she was super kind and showed me the ropes. Stupid me though....I crochet!! When I got to the end of the scarf, not thinking, I just tied it off and pulled it off the needle. YOU CAN'T DO THAT WITH KNITTING.

Now I have all these loops and I already cut the yarn and don't know what to do. Can someone PLEASE help this beginner? (if it would help, I can take a photo and post it)  Sad

20  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / So confused. Pillow cover help please! on: January 02, 2008 06:26:22 PM
Hi all. I am decent at sewing and I enjoy making simple pillows filled with poly-fil. However, the boy and I are trying to make the house a bit nicer and I'd like to make some nicer pillows to go along.

I like the idea of this type cover:

I don't know where I can find a tutorial or pattern for something like this. Does anyone have any pointers? Or can anyone point me in the right direction?
