1  +Laells Lyrical ATC Dump 'o' Love+ in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by Laells on: May 17, 2011 12:20:22 PM
Oh Seriously...

Lyrics from 'Gimme Sympathy' by Metric

Bigger Than The Sound

Lyrics from 'Cheated Hearts' by The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Little Room

Lyrics from Little Room by The White Stripes

Lyrics from 'The Denial Twist' by The White Stripes.

Farewell My Black Balloon

Lyrics from 'Black Balloon' by The Kills

Lost Her Behind The Moon

Lyrics from 'Satellite' by The Kills.

Not too long ago I bought a pack of pre-cut bristol board ATCs at some art store (Curry's I believe. I'm in Canada), and never realized how truly fabulous having them are.

Before when I'd get the itch to make them I'd have to stop and measure and cut the next one and I'd only churn out three. Today I got six of these bad guys out. It was so easy to just grab another one once the inspiration got flowing. I highly recommend them and they were cheeeeeap! I can't remember exactly but before taxes it was under two bucks.

With this set I've continued my new soft pastel and inking pen/sharpie obsession. As you can also see they're all based on songs. What can I say? Music and art go hand in hand for me. <3

2  +Miss Selena Gomez - Prolly Most Envied Girl Ever+ in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Laells on: May 06, 2011 11:36:39 PM

This is a Communion gift for my niece. I was told she wants to be Selena Gomez so that's what she got.

I was getting good at not procrastinating on gift drawings and having them done a day early but this one sneaked up on me out of nowhere.

I started at 10 pm and finished at 1 am the day before. I'm pretty sure that's a new Last Minute Best for me. lol

I used 2H, B, F, and 7B pencils and of course my trusty blending stomps. Smiley

I'm actually excited for her to get this because I think she's going to be super excited.

Edit 05.16.11:

She loved it! My heart is swelling! I was told it was taken in for Show and Tell the next day. Cheesy Thank you for the feedback too, everyone! I've got the warm fuzzies guys!

3  + Baby's Breath + in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Laells on: May 01, 2011 05:05:08 PM

There's a few places where some of the words are a little hard to read but it's a Peter Pan quote.

When the first baby laughed for the first time, it broke into a thousand pieces and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies. And now when every new baby is born its first laugh becomes a fairy. - James Matthew Barrie.

I had a baby shower to attend today and I thought this was quite obviously the perfect quote about babies. Also I apparently made the background the perfect shade of green to go with the baby's room. So that was a happy accident. Cheesy

And prettified. How does it feel, Oscar Wilde? Cheesy

This is a wedding shower gift and another example of m new love of soft pastels. They're complete adoration and I love them because they make backgrounds very very quick and easy.

Cuz he's the muthafreakin' BATMAN! This year is a busy year for gift giving. As much as it can be overwhelming when you make all your gifts I love being able to give personalized unique gifts and the receiver really loved it. So that was pretty sweet. Smiley

Thanks for looking guys.

7  +Tis The Season For Bridal Showers+ in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Laells on: April 14, 2011 11:06:47 PM

I finished this in such a panic! One of my best girlfriends is getting married and this was her gift for the shower that was actually on a Sunday. Not a Saturday. So Friday I was hustling some serious ass and got it all finished and then realized that it would be on Sunday. So I did end up not having to deal with that at the last minute (as usual). It was kind of nice. I think I might keep doing it. lol

But she loooooved it and I love that she loved it. I always get nervous giving stuff like this but I'm my own worst critic. Every artist probably is. lol I was worried about doing the future hubby's beard but I was actually quite pleased with end product.

I believe I used an F, HB, 5B, and 7B pencils for this and I have some home made blending stomps I use for shading.

Thanks for looking, ya'll! Cheesy

9  + Laells: First Three Glitterful ATCs + in Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) by Laells on: August 16, 2010 01:15:19 PM

These are the first three! I try to get the best pictures I can due to my lack of scanner, but I'm not even really sure if a scanner would show the glitter. So maybe it's all for the best.

I also made the paper for the backgrounds of the pink and blue one.  It's super easy!

10  + Laells: New Spin on Mirrored Jewellry Box + in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Laells on: May 14, 2010 04:13:15 PM
I even made it teenage-boy friendly!

This was a quick last minute birthday gift for my brother. He's a budding little artist himself so I thought he might be able to put erasers/sharpeners/lead refills etc. in it.

He didn't seem to excited about it until I showed him how his name is reversible and then he thought it was REALLY cool. lol

Thanks for looking!
