1  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / New Years Rez for new lampworkers... on: January 03, 2009 09:17:34 PM
If you're itching to sell your work but don't think it's good enough...boy did I know that feeling.

If you can make a basic spacer bead that's annealed, and won't cut the wire it's strung on, why don't you give it a try!  'Wonkiness' is just a design element!  There are awesome jewelry designers out there that are looking for sets to make jewelry with.  If you can make decent beads after a short time, don't let anyone make you think you have to have a lot of time under your belt.  A good bead is a good bead.

Make sure to take GOOD pictures.  That's the number one thing that draws people to your work.  Lots of diffused light...daylight is best.

Give it a try, you may find it suprising!
See what you can do with simple 'spacer' beads on my blog... and I'm not half the jewelry designer others are!

Can you taste the cinnamon?
Spiced look accomplished with enamels.
The medium sized beads are 'normal' size, and the little baby beads are great for earrings. Very tiny.

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / bead ejimication. on: March 14, 2006 07:13:24 PM
me again.

So.  Where can I go to gain knowledge and information about the kinds of stones, beads, etc that I use?
For instance, why are swarovski (I forget..is it swarovsky? Guess I should figger THAT out) so cool and sought after?
What IS a man made crystal?

See, i want to infuse a bit of intelligence in with the product I'm going to make, just so that I can come back sounding like I know what I'm doing, rather than just sticking a wire in a hole.
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Wire Jig? on: March 11, 2006 08:25:40 PM
Is getting one worth it?
Is it easy to pick up and learn?

I'm thinking of getting one.
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Some Earrings for your perusal on: March 08, 2006 03:11:54 PM
I need to work on the wire wrapping to make the beads more secure...

(this is 'cantalope' swarovski, peach in lamplight, green in daylight, and quartzy clear in both together)
