1  UNITED STATES / Louisiana / Shreveport/Bossier craft group on: February 07, 2005 10:58:55 AM
Would anyone be interested in forming a casual crafting group in the Shreveport area? I know there has to be some crafty girls here that would like to get together occasionally. All of my friends in the area have moved far away, so I'm desperate for some creative companionship! Reply or PM me if you're interested.

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / erasable wall calendar/planner things on: December 27, 2004 09:55:48 PM
Okay, I want to get something like this, but it's a little bland for me. Besides the obvious "gluing crap to the border" route, what are some other ways I could personalize it? Or could I make my own? Or buy a handmade craftier version of it?

Thanks ahead of time!
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Another "What can I make for my boyfriend?" post on: December 14, 2004 07:42:49 AM
I'm buying my boyfriend one thing this year, since money is pretty tight. It's the Complete Cadence recordings by the Everly Brothers, by the way. So I want to have something else to give to him, but I don't know what. He's very supportive of my craftiness, so I know he'd appreciate whatever I make, I just want to make something that he'll actually use. Let me tell you a little about him:

- He's 28, but he's more my age at heart (20)
- Loves music. Has over 1200 cds. His taste runs the gamut from Beatles to Bob Dylan to Miles Davis to Hank Williams Sr. to Supertramp to The Clash. He doesn't play any instruments, but he's a scholar when it comes to popular music history.
- Doesn't like sweets, so I can't bake for him.
- Has a very dry and caustic sense of humor.
- He loves reading and books and literature.
- Conservative in lifestyle, but liberal in politics. Not religious, hates Bush, pro-civil rights.
- Doesn't spend much on himself except when it comes to music.

He's really very much like myself, which is why it's so frustrating for me to not have any ideas. Please help!!
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / shipping materials on: November 19, 2004 11:21:46 AM
To those of you who have your own store, do you have an exceptional deal on shipping materials you can share? I'm talking boxes, packing envelopes, bubble wrap, that sort of thing. Do you buy in bulk or do you just get minimal amounts from your local post office? What about online stores that sell packing supplies? Can anyone recommend something reliable and cost-efficient for me?

Thanks ahead of time!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / flying saucer pincusion on: November 08, 2004 11:11:48 PM
I was tired of forgetting my pincushion every time I got up to go sew, SO I made myself one of those nifty wrist pincushions. It's made out of felt and I embroidered the stuff on the front. It's completely handsewn and stuffed with cotton batting (not polyester!). I'll be a wreck at work tomorrow, but I figured since I stayed up past my bedtime to make this thing, it won't matter if I stay up a little later to post about it. Smiley
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Led Zeppelin magazine page wallet on: September 02, 2004 11:46:32 AM
I made a new billfold/wallet with a change holder and id/credit card holder out of Led Zeppelin pictures in a magazine. I covered them with contact paper and stitched it all together with a zig-zag stitch. Comments are appreciated!

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / felt wallet on: July 01, 2004 10:17:13 AM
A while ago, I made a cute little wallet out of felt. It was the 20 cent kind you get in any craft store. But about a couple weeks later, the felt started pilling and it's so floppy and worn out now that it really doesn't hold up. The felt that rubs off inside my purse gets everywhere. Is there a better felt I could use, something a little more substantial? Is "craft felt" better, or is that the same thing? Help! And thanks!
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Jordy bag out of t-shirt on: May 24, 2004 08:37:53 PM
This is my second Jordy bag. This time I used heavier interfacing (fused to every piece of fabric that went into this purse, practically) and it worked out very well, I believe. I made it out of my boyfriend's Rubber Soul t-shirt that was too small for him, yet too large for me. Now I'm the hippest chick on my block!

Here's the outside:

And here's the inside (with cellphone pocket, lipgloss pocket, and writing utensil pocket!):

Thank goodness for wonderful grandfathers who give digital cameras for birthday presents! Without them, this post would never have taken place.  Cheesy
9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / decorating a coffee mug on: December 01, 2003 10:46:01 PM
I'm wanting to make a coffee mug for a friend for Christmas. How can I go about decorating or personalizing it for him without it looking too "homemade"?

Has anyone else done this successfully?
10  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / magazine storage on: November 23, 2003 12:38:25 PM
I'm in the process of completely decluttering my room. I'm moving to a smaller dresser, so the holder for my mags won't fit up there anymore. I want some sort of bin or rack to sit on the floor to hold my mags, but everything in the stores are so expensive and bland. Any suggestions, guys?

P.S. I will be cruising ebay for things I can possibly revamp.
