For my senior thesis project, I made an installation of a living room out of found objects...one of the main pieces was a dress of old photos, which ended up being a lot more frustrating to make than it looks...anyways, here's some photos of the finished piece.

and a photo of the finished piece,

22  Honey, I'm Home in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by goonie on: May 18, 2010 12:50:15 PM
For my senior thesis project, I made a living room out of all kinds of found objects - from records to slides to photos.
This is the final installation, and the record bowls on the wall are free for people to take home with them...
The dress is all old photos, the lampshade is slides, the table is an old tv tray with shelf liner on the top, with record sleeves and records as the base...the wallpaper is just random rolls I found with some more photos on the wall...comments/criticism welcome.

23  Magic Carpet Ride Mini in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by goonie on: March 05, 2010 03:28:38 PM
another hodgepodge of fabrics...this time i used black floral cotton, orange trim, a carpet sample, and black lace to put together this minidress.  I can't get enough tapestry fabric...It's one of my favorites, so i decided to keep it.  Comments/Criticism?

24  Sweet Virginia Babydoll in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by goonie on: January 16, 2010 10:10:13 AM
I went to Joshua Tree for New Years, and  I stopped at a thrift store on the way, where I found two vintage dishtowels, including this Jamestown, Virginia one.  It has John Smith, Pocahontas, and awesome 70's style pirate ships.   I turned it into an empire waist babydoll with gold chain as a faux collar.

Comments and criticism, please!

25  Fire Walk With Me in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by goonie on: December 17, 2009 03:39:18 PM
After watching both seasons of twin peaks about 3 times over, I decided to dedicate this piece to little laura palmer.  I'm giving it to my friend who watched the series with me for her birthday.
It's collage and ink on a painting I found at a thrift store.

26  Flora//\\Fauna Dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by goonie on: November 13, 2009 02:23:40 PM
More like 95% flora, 5% fauna.  The bull charm adds the much needed boyishness to all the flowers I put in this.  Anyways, it's made from vintage upholstery, an old button up with that gorgeous embroidery, and a necktie as a belt.

I think the little bull charms are going to be my new Rusty Cuts signature, and I'll put them on everything I make.

What do you guys think?

27  Candy Cane Polka Dots in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by goonie on: November 06, 2009 12:24:47 PM
This polka dot blouse was a giveaway from one of my roomates, and I made this collar yoke thing out of ties, vintage lace, and buttons.  What do you think?  Criticism/Comments are appreciated.
Sorry about the blurry photos...

28  Electric Velvet Floral Striped Mini in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by goonie on: October 30, 2009 12:53:14 PM
Whoa, that's a mouthful.  But I HAD to.  Made from an upcycled floral maxi skirt, vintage Guatemalan silk and Grey and Black Striped tie silk, this dress is kind of a rollercoaster through time periods. Part circus, part 60s mod, I can't really classify it. I have a question too, does the back look bad? I think the model's bust is too big for it, or do you think I should just make it lace up in the back to fit more sizes?  Criticism is greatly appreciated.
