1  Re: Clapotis from Knitty in Knitalongs by Red Alibi on: November 28, 2006 07:30:15 AM
Well I finished last week but some things came up and I didn't get to post.

Anyway, my mom claimed it for herself and I'm happy she wanted it because the guy and I sorta kinda broke up for some reason unknown to me yet. I'll bribe him with the letters he sent me promising he would never leave me later, but first, Pictures!!

I did 20 straight rows on 5mm needles, with the wonderfully cheap yarn <3 It's a bit over 2 meters long!!! It only took just over 3 balls (I guess that's 3 and 1/4) so it cost me 6 euro's  Shocked I swear I thought I'd need tons more balls for this but I'm bad at making an estimate. The colors in the back of the pic are the closest I think to the real thing

Here's my mom wearing it (modeling it.. she had to do a whole pose thing.. 25 pictures and this is the only one she kinda likes)

When I see all the bands people listen to I feel I have no clue whatsoever about music. Maybe that's the county difference.. But there are loads of bands I've never heard of on everyones playlist!!

I forgot I'd made pictures of my cd covers!!!

It's caled Bianca, 100% acrylic, 260 m per 100 gr. and only 1,49!!! they have them in some different color variations, think some white/brown/? red/purple/blue and this one is green/red/pinky/brown/black with a hint of blue because of the fade between colors.

I buy it at the Wibra, that's a kinda cheap store (think dollar store) here in Holland. I don't think it's in the US.. If you wanted some you could always do a personal swap with someone from Holland  Wink

Ooh I did some edging last night, simple sc along the bottom side. It has almost stoped it from curling up in the one corner but it lets it curl if so needed. I think I might add some fringe on.. but I'm liking it like this too

Pfew.. Looked through all the pages on this thread... Some lovely clapotises!!! I'm glad I looked, I was worried about the holes you get when you first start out, I had no idea they were to 'hold' the dropped stitches.

I started mine tuesday, this was my progress so far yesterday after 1 ball of yarn (I've now got 11 straight row repeats.. it's just a bit longer than my arm right now so I'm nearly half way there)

The yarn is acrylic (yay! cheap but lovely yarn) because it's a present for my bf's mom. The house is full of animals that love to shed hair and smell onto my hand knit gifts! So it'll need to take some serious washing.

Do you think washing will help it not curl so much? Otherwise I might put an edging on, perhaps some beads, I dont know!

I still need to find time (and the willing) to make pompoms.. and i didn't sew up the lines on the top.. didn't seem like this bag wanted it! I did put snaps on so I guess that will have to do..  Grin

I received from Nix Kisses today!

look how cute  Cheesy

And a bonus cd!!!

I really like the music she chose. EXO and Raddish sound just like what I'd go for!
I still have to listen to the bonus cd, I spent ages figuring out how to rip music of a cd in iTunes and then they needed to be converted blablabla.. needless to say I don't know how to use iTunes yet..
But I'm going to listen to it tonight, promise!

And thanks so much Nix Kisses, again  Grin!

it is Cheesy and thanks!

I'll post pictures after I get back in a few hours, party prep...  Cheesy

dad's busy so no shopping yet so here are the pictures:

I made you a tam and attempted a earflap 'stick yo dread ponies thru' hat (you tell me what you think of that!) and I made you an extra bag cause you had to wait + you need a cheer up from being flaked on (it's an old suit jacket with a 'let's call it vintage' sequin/beaded dragon thinggie sewn on)

and then 6 headbands, plus an extra loose sequin/bead ribbon for wherever you want to put it!

now finally some beads, shells and coils, the flower you can actually sort of clip on to a dread, you'll see Wink

now, finally my dad's ready and so am i Smiley
I hope you like what you're getting!! (nervous as always bout that)
and btw the package should be there in 1 to 2 weeks Sad

Ahh... Having finally had my dreads worked on I shall now let you all enjoy pictures Tongue

I contemplated looking sad in the before pictures but I looked like an idiot so here's my half assed smile before front and back:

(they look very curly.. that's due to the perm and washing.. I should have never done the perm.. bad perm bad bad bad!)

And now my amazing after pictures and happy smile (no, I don't have a weird part going through the left side.. there is usually hair there we just didn't have it there):

I'm finally happy again with my dreads  Cheesy
