21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Big fluffy neck-warmer type thing on: November 19, 2006 03:37:04 PM
So, my I made this for my friends birthday yesterday. She always wants me to make her something but I never get around to finishing it! Anyway, this is a rectangular swatch of stockinette stitch, double yarn, on size 15 US needles. I knit up two patches of another yarn in garter stich and sewed that on the ends of the previous piece and attached a huge bead to it as a button.

comments welcome! it's so fuzzy!
22  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Lorna's Lace Worsted Weight Vest(?) on: November 12, 2006 08:23:27 AM
So I went into the yarn store yesterday afternoon and saw this yarn I absolutely loved, it's Lorna's Lace Shepard Worsted in all different olive greenish hues( I think it's called cedar!) I bought two skeins totaling to about 450 yards. It's 4.5 stitches per inch on size 7 US needles.

I didn't have a pattern in mind but I was hoping to make some sort of cropped version of a vest. I may have to make up my own pattern because I haven't had much luck finding a fitted vest pattern for this type of yarn. I'm completely open on any suggestions on patterns or an idea of how to work this!!

so, if you have seen any patterns that may work or have any tips on freehanding some sort of pattern please share!!

23  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Purple-ish, Pinkish-, Cotton-candy-ish? on: November 05, 2006 10:32:33 AM
This supposed "scarf" turned into a neck warmer because I didn't think the last ball of yarn would cut it for the length I would have wanted. I got the thin and thick yarn on clearance at Jo-anns and picked up a packet of heart shaped buttons at Michael's. I think I need bigger buttons because these sometimes slip a bit. is there a way to fix that?

24  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Craftster inspired space girl on: November 01, 2006 08:33:31 PM
This year I was a space girl which was completely and utterly inspired by Indie33 https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=61074.0

I was hoping to go with a green theme but that didn't entirely work out since I was searching for a lime green shirt at 5pm on Halloween. I made the skirt out of silver tissue lame(ugh) and the wrap shirt out
of some awful stretchy silver material that left pull marks when stretched which meant I had to cover all seams with the tissue lame to prevent runs. some kids hot pink turtle neck, white tights.

Anyway here are some photos! ray gun and all

I also made the toothfairys tutu, which you can't see in this photo TOO well, lots of different layers of netting, two top layers of tulle. and I made the peacock costume is mine from last year, I layers together all the feathers between a patch of cordouroy and sewed black feathers on top.

and me lazering all the cabs!

25  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Pink Glassblown Vase! on: October 24, 2006 06:43:19 AM
This is just a solid pink vase I made with a chunk of red glass and clear overlay. You can see the seperation at the lip of the vase!

I didn't take out the flowers because dried roses tend to drop apart whenever you move them an inch. plus, it makes for a pretty picture!
26  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Ceramic Sake Pitcher and Sushi Plates on: October 20, 2006 09:14:57 PM
I made these for my boyfriends birthday in April but two of the pieces went missing in the ceramics lab and showed back up in August (thankfully!)

I used crystalline glazes. my sister says it looks like mold, hahahha

(I wasn't sure which forum to put this in so I'm trying Misc.)
27  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Glass bowl and Paperweight on: October 19, 2006 10:23:10 AM
So, I finally took pictures of everything! Here is the first thing I made. (a paperweight, feel free to laugh!)

and here is a plain blue bowl I made, just a little bit bigger than an average bowl.

28  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Bronze Frit Glassblown vase, candle holder on: October 19, 2006 09:08:13 AM
Here are a couple things I made over last winter. The larger one is about 6 inches tall. Both were made with clear glass and bronze frit which has a blueish tint in certain lights

29  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Glassblown Drop Vase- Edited Page 1 Photos on: October 07, 2006 08:00:20 PM
I took glassblowing classes early this year and made a ton of things. This was one of my favorites. I'm just a beginner and would like to take more classes but they're SO expensive. My boyfriend signed me up for a six week session for Christmas. BEST GIFT EVER!

This is one of the drop vases I made, a light blue glass with multi-colored scraps melted in. The tragic story of this is that the stem was absolutely straight with a diagonal mouth right before I flashed it for a few too many seconds. It began to melt downwards and this is as straight as I could get it after that.

I still like it

30  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Late Summer Dress- I know it's October! on: October 07, 2006 07:54:50 PM
I made this over the summer but I didn't really put it to too much use. It's just brown jersey with a thicker blue knit on top. my sister wearing it...

and the back...

I ended up cutting the braided straps down a bit
