1  pillows galore in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by singmeasong12 on: February 08, 2009 02:44:44 PM
I'm Jess. I've been sewing for a few years now but I taught myself and I don't seem to be getting any better, but that may be because I'm (overly)ambitious. Anyways, I decided to try something a little simpler, so I made pillows! For some strange reason, my first ones are much prettier than my later ones...

Patchwork scrap pillow

Weird purpley satin with a lace heart. I found the satin on the road one day while I was out for a run. It's all stained up and nasty but it's good for practice and it was free Smiley

Simple felt bird covered in cat hair hahaha

Half muslin, half breast cancer scarf we get every year at the walk in Philadelphia. I've been trying to think of something to do with them all. We've been going for years, before and after my aunt died.

Carrot! This was practice for a strawberry pillow that I've yet to make. The top is felt. It didn't turn out much like I'd wanted but I still like it.

Ugly patchwork pillow. This one's on my floor instead of my bed.

A work-in-progess I'm not sure about. It's supposed to be a fishbowl with a cutout fish but it looks funky - even more so because I haven't finished stuffing or sewing it up.

A gratuitous shot of my kitty's new nap place. We can never get to our gloves or scarves anymore but he's an old man so we let him be.

Sorry about the terrible pictures. I wanted them to have a pretty white background like some people on here have but it didn't quite work out Smiley Any tips? on the photo-taking, the pillow-making, or the sewing?

Thanks for looking!

hey all

im a newbie, rookie, beginner, novice, apprentice, whatever you want to call me. i used to handsew clothes for my dolls as a kid but i discovered the magic of a sewing machine this summer. my stitches are super sloppy but im learning. ive still gotta iron stuff and put on buttons/closures but i was uberexcited that i could post pictures! im going to try to put them in chronological order. oh yeah im always curious how old people are. im sixteen and currently a junior in high school. scary people please dont stalk me.

made this during the summer for my friend from her old tee-shirt. i dont much like it but shes been toting it about school like a proud mamma

my first wallets! the first, third, and fourth are from hdoglovesyou's tutorial(she rocks) and the second one is just from my crazy mind. ive made a few others but theyve been adopted.

the intestines

little coin purse pouch holder things? nice close up of my messy stitches of course

bigger pouches. perfect for holding pencils or makeup etc. the second one is made from an old peanut bag. i lurve it even if it doesnt lie flat.

getting a little better at sewing

ditto. all have new homes since this picture.

my first attempt at the bag ironing thing i cant remember what its called. didnt work so well so if you have any little tricks id love to hear. the green one recently became a friends makeup bag.

i love these ones. the first one is a christmas present for my mum to hold her hearing aid batteries. the other two are just cute Smiley

youre getting bored i can sense it. these are little jewelry pouches for my mum and aunt.

insides. i wish id put jewelry in them for the picture

my first actual lining! at least i did one thing right since i sure screwed the handle up royally.

come on. admit it. youre admiring my hot pj pants

my third bag! the glorious jordy tute was used here. ive yet to pick a way to close it.

not only is this a terrible armpit shot but just look at that stain! dont you love how cameras bring out that kinda stuff?

i wanted to show off my sunday morning comics decoupaged headband! i also made one out of the colors but its on a friends head right now!

a free napoleon book from a creepy man has become a christmas present for my big brother!

the tighty whitey wallet! used the tutorial except i freestyled it a bit. aka i had no clue what i was doing.

crotch pocket! its a practice for a christmas present for my brother(hes twenty)

filled with all my old school i.d.s. the one spot is actually supposed to hold receipts.

and lastly, some fabric bows

if youve had to stop looking at the screen i think youre in what is scientifically called photo shock. the only medical solution is to go sew!

thanks for looking everybody. you guys should stop posting(just kidding) cause i dont do my homework anymore. im always on this website.
