1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Neanner's munchkin hat on: May 02, 2012 04:06:50 PM
Just made this hat from the pattern at http://neannersshop.blogspot.com/ - Can't you just picture it for newborn photos? I love it!  Cheesy

How awesome of her to share this pattern!

(doll's head is smaller than an average newborn)

2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Easter dress in green taffeta on: April 24, 2011 05:40:34 PM
Okay, so a while back I found this apple green taffeta and just knew that it had to become Rosie's Easter dress.  The original plan was to make a matching bonnet, but then I bought this awesome headband so I made shoes instead.

It's hard to see the structure of the dress when your model is kind of a wiggly noodle, but there are box pleats on the back and front and a darker green ruffle and light green bow at the neckline.  very cute pattern, will definitely use this one again.

3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Baby Gnome on: November 02, 2009 05:06:04 PM
I will start off by saying that this is from a Simplicity pattern, not my idea.  It was too cute to resist and I was not disappointed by the results...here is my baby gnome:

(I understand that I could have posted just one of the pictures, but you parents out there know how it is...how do you pick?) Wink
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Children's book themed kids room - any ideas? on: September 12, 2009 02:43:24 PM
Okay, so we want to redo our boys' room with a book theme.  I was inspired by KT McNasty's record album clocks to make this (excuse the lousy pictures please...i lost my camera and am using an old one in bad lighting) Roll Eyes

and by tristanlayne89 to make this

and because i seem to be without any ideas of my own at the moment i'm appealing to all you craftsters out there for any thoughts or ideas for the rest of the room.  it is rather small, but i think it has potential...as does the ugly green yellow and orange dresser.  right?  thanks in advance for your help!

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / pattern storage ideas? on: July 03, 2009 03:12:51 PM
So I have what some may call an unhealthy amount of sewing patterns and a relatively small craft room.  I tried boxes and bins, but I need easier access to them or they end up a mess when I search through for just that right one.  Any thoughts? Huh
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / My son was framed -or- Does this make it art? on: June 26, 2009 09:59:20 PM
I came home tonight to find my husband and older son sleeping and this...
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Crafting a Pig on: June 18, 2009 07:32:48 AM
Well, just decorating it, really.  Here in Wausau, WI we have a hot air balloon festival and "Pigs in the Sky" rib fest.  It's a really fun event and some local businesses (including mine) get involved by purchasing and decorating cement pigs.
There is a contest to see who comes up with the best pig and we would love to win!  (Or at least be one of the top few)

They are about 2 feet long and extremely heavy.  Last year we made it a superhero cape and mask and painted it pink.
Here is a link to last year's entries (plus info on the event)
Anyone have ideas for me?  We're in brainstorming mode. Huh Smiley
Thank you!
8  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Simplicity 2809 - a doll for Kelly on: December 27, 2008 07:56:03 PM
The kids do a gift exchange at the sitter's...this year little man had to find a present for a little girl who's about 2 1/2.  there's a $10 price limit, i knew i could manage something with that.  a little bit of muslin and some scrap fabric (oh yeah, and about half an hour spent scouring my craft room for some safety eyes that i knew were somewhere!) and here's what we came up with.
a dolly with matching stuffed kitty and blanket.  i did the embroidery for her face on my sewing machine with random lengths of zigzag stitches until it looked right...so don't zoom in. Wink
the little tag on the back says "made with love" on the reverse.  not sure where i got them, i think my grandma sent them in a package of random sewing stuff, but it seemed appropriate.   Smiley
i've never actually made a doll before (and applaud those of you who do!) but i'm kinda proud of her.
thanks for looking!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Little Argyle Coat on: December 15, 2008 08:30:53 PM
here is a coat i made for one of the girls in daycare with little man.  she turned three 3 days before him (and her brother turned 1 a week later...which was a week before my baby)  that makes 4 birthdays in 2 weeks (out of the 5 kids she watches!)
anyway, wanted to make something cute for her because she is such a little peanut and so adorable!
i really liked how it turned out, so i thought i'd share...

10  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / firefightermanchicken on: November 03, 2008 04:04:37 AM
so it was all set...little man was going to be a lion for halloween.  and what a cute lion he would have made!  (see pics at end of post)
but alas, we happened to catch Dora's halloween episode, in which Boots can't decide if he should be a firefighter or a chicken so opts for both...suddenly little man wants to be a "firefighterman chicken" too.  well, if you can't indulge them at 2...

he actually had a beak to wear, but of course didn't want to wear it.  it was easy to pick out the parents of little kids...they made the dora connection right away.  most people weren't quite sure what to think.
