ok well here it is with  the straps.im kind of torn though because i wish had put them on before the lining because it cuts the pocket up and its now kind of hard to fitthings in there but ontheother hand it holds the lining and backing together andits kindof nice to have a pocket seperator.

here im trying toshow how the strap goes alll the way around but its  a bad picture sorry

and this is how the inside looks Huh

26  mens boring 2xl shirt into stripey dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by helpmetonailyoudown on: July 26, 2006 04:27:11 PM
so the other day i was in walmart and i found some shirts that were 8 something  marked down to a measly $5 so i got the the biggest one i could find. that same night i was bleaching the bottom of my hair(thats what i was in walmart for in the first place) and i had ALOT of bleach left over and i didnt want to waste it so i put it on the shirt

i tired to make it look like plaid but it didnt really work out but i like it anyways. this is how big it was on me before i cut it up

then i had this. kind of undesirealble though

so i made a little doodle to see if i could improve it

so i added some 97 cent fabric that was suposably soiled but i couldnt find any thing wrong with it and some purple tule and made it into this

and this is the back. its just plain black though becuase i didnt bleach the back of the shirt. oops.

i hope every one likes it give me some feedback!

27  leopard and bat laptop case w/ tute. in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by helpmetonailyoudown on: July 25, 2006 11:39:32 PM
i had been planning on makeing a computer case for a while so i can take my laptop with me in september when i go to germany. i wasnt sure how to go about it and only found a couple things that said how but no pictures. so i pretty much went at this with little direction except that i knew what i wanted it to look like in the end. i had at start over a couple of times so i figured to help anyone else out with the same problem i made a tute. so here it is!

first of all heres a look at the finished product...well not totaly i havent put the strap on yet and i plan to bedazzel it (i just got a *gem magic!*) but this will give you an idea

first i put my computer on top of the fabric for measurements, i left about 2-3 inches on each side for extra roomyness

then i pinned the cushiony part(polyester batting)to the outside fabric then sewed it together

then i set that aside and made a pocket for the inside (its kind of hard to see becuase it blends in but its there!) and  it would have some elastic in it to keep the things from falling out but i couldnt find it

then i pinned the big plastic zipper(that could/should be longer)to the top part of the bag, folding both peices inward on either side so it would have finished looking edge

my kitten "helped me hold the fabric...and i put my computer on it tocheck the size again/placement of the zipper. i did this about a million times though out the whole process to make sure that it would fit

also i found it was easyer to pin the fabric on while it was unzipped if you do this make sure that you zip it back up before you go to sew it to make sure it is even  and attached right

and i dont know how to use a zipper foot so i just put the edge of the regular foot up to the zipper and kept it there really there was no reason to change it.

then after getting the top part of thezipper sewn i went on to pin the corner and edge of it (this was the only hard part of the bag, pinning thezipper on the curve)

then i sewed the rest of the space between the zipper together

and then ta-da! its done!

sorry there was so many pictures to that i got a little crazy but i hope it ends up being helpful to some one somehow Grin

29  purple polka dot wallet and question in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by helpmetonailyoudown on: July 24, 2006 10:05:44 PM
i made this wallet a while ago when i first got my sewing machine. i got  a bunch of peices of felt in a kit with polka dots on them they were jsut small squares and since purple is my favorite color i made this cute little number. the card holder thingy is kind of off center but thats ok with me. but im having a problem with the closeure. i just pinned a peice of glittery purple velcro on (because it matched) i just used one peice becuase the felt sticks to it but the problem is that the part  doing the sticking is all raggedy now what should i do to fix this? should i keep useing the velcro or find something else? and what else could i use?please help me out!

see how frayed the poor little strap is?
