511  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Agh! Last minute wedding gift help! on: August 02, 2007 04:14:13 PM
This is something I did for a friend a couple of years back..

I bought a picnic basket, some pretty tins, a candle (adding a book of matches), champagne flutes, cloth napkins, two small pretty plates that I found at a garage sale, and a couple of forks.  I put in a bottle of champagne and took the basket to the reception.  The caterer packed the tins with sandwiches and wedding cake and gave it to the couple to take on the honeymoon.  It was a big hit.

You could make a small picnic groundcover/tablecloth and napkins yourself.. even line a basket to match.. If you know the brides wedding colors, you could coordinate.

A friend of mine had a rice krispie treat sculpture at her reception (instead of ice).. it was a swan and it the thing that everyone, young and old, talked about most.

513  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Wedding rehearsal bouquets.. on: July 31, 2007 04:56:54 PM
Just for fun, I made candy bouquets for my friend Linda's wedding rehearsal.. Sorry, I never thought to make pictures of them individually but I managed to crop these from snapshots we made that night.

The Bride:

1 of the 3 Bridesmaids:

I picked up bouquet forms at the local Michael's (If you do this, be sure to get the kind with Styrofoam, not oasis) .

The brides is made of Hershey Kisses wrapped in pink cellophane (I used these instructions to make the "flowers" http://www.hersheys.com/kisses/crafts/detail.asp?id=29) with a white scrunchie used for the "collar".

The bridesmaid's had tootsie roll pops and other candies wired to picks. (a bit of hot glue made it all come together).  I filled in with bits of curling ribbon in various colors and added fluffy pink hair scrunchies.

Your wand it great.. I've been wanting one but didn't have access to woodturning equipment.  Now, with this link, I think I can manage making one.
