12  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Chinese Fortune Take-Out Purse! on: February 21, 2008 08:33:51 AM
I acquired this vintage fabric from one of my elderly neighbors who no longer sews because of her vision and when I first saw it, I knew exactly what it was to become! So here it is -> My Chinese Fortune Take-Out Purse!

The fortune on the inside of the flap says:
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
13  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Tattoo style awareness ribbon necklace for mom on: February 21, 2008 08:24:34 AM
This necklace was made for my mother in honor of my brother (Joel) who is in the Canadian Armed Forces. It was made with shrink plastic, is hand-drawn, and I put it on a gunmetal finsihed rolo chain. She loves it!

16  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / More Pet Portrait Charms... this time for charity on: February 20, 2008 08:08:13 AM
Here are some *more* pet portrait charms. These were made for a wonderful charity called Bullies In Need who are based in Ontario Canada that came to be, unfortunately, because of the pit bull ban in Ontario. They rescue bully breeds and find them loving forever homes. It is thanks to them that I got my dog, Kali, a wonderfuly pitbull/am staff mix who has become my Jack Russell Terrier's best friend and my angel.  Wink

So here are the charms! A bully and a charming African Grey.

They are hand-drawn on shrink plastic with mostly Laurentien colored pencils.
17  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Reputable charity organizations that accept Paypal donations? on: February 17, 2008 03:05:53 PM
Does anyone know of some good reputable charity organizations that accept donations via paypal? I'm not looking for anything particular so it can be anything from animal rescues to cancer research.

Just doing some research.

Thanks in advance.

19  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / More dog portraits on shrink plastic! on: January 07, 2008 08:22:17 AM
I've posted these a while back, but since I have been making these like crazy I wanted to share a few of my favorites. They are hand-drawn on shrink plastic using colored pencils. They aren't traced, rather I use a reference photo that I look at while I draw.  Cheesy

20  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Shop renovations - Share your before and afters! on: January 06, 2008 01:01:50 PM
One of my New Year's resolutions was to renovate my Etsy shop. After participating in a few critiques on the Etsy forums I took the advice I was given, changed my banner and took new photos of all my items. It feels great to start off fresh for the new year. It was a long process because I did absolutely everything alone. I do have to give credit to one Etsy seller for the wonderful information she gave me about an online printing service for my business cards (overnightprints.com). Thank you nbcreative! =)

Some of the things I've changed:
- new photos for all of my items
- made new backgrounds which are now either pink, white, or brown to match my banner
- new banner
- revised all of my item descriptions
- new business card which matches my banner
- showed scale in my handbag photos by taking a photo of me holding the bag
- revised my profile and shop policies
- made jewelry display busts to match my backgrounds/business card/banner

I'm still not completely done, but I am so excited about the change that I just had to share!

Now share yours! I'd love to see them!

PS: I've also posted this on the Etsy forums.
