1  funny faces in Needlework: Completed Projects by loserchick88 on: April 14, 2011 01:03:33 PM
so the boyfriend doodles these little faces everywhere (literally-homework, notes, bathroom mirror, fog on windows), so i finally stitched a few up.  I'm really happy with how they turned out-they're really close to the originals Smiley
Afro dude:

mini man (this is a really small hoop-that's all two strands of thread or less)

mustache man! (he's my favorite from this batch i think...he seems like he'd be a laid back funny security guard to me )

thanks for looking-any comments or criticism would be great!!

2  Racecar blanket...for big boys! in Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects by loserchick88 on: March 19, 2011 04:54:22 PM
I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS THE RIGHT BOARD!!!  if it's in the wrong place I will gladly move it, just let me know Smiley

Alright, it finally got sunny enough to take pictures of this project! I made this blanket about a month ago as an anniversary present for my boy, who is obsessed with cars and top gear Smiley.  I had a heck of a time with it too :/  The blanket is bought (it's kohls brand, got at goodwill for like 5$), The pattern I put on it is racetracks from around the world (i found somewhere online that someone had made a font out of them, which is where I got the images from.  I'll try and find it again, or send the files if someone wants it Smiley ).  The pain was gettin the darn things on there!!  I originally thought freezer paper stencils, but after realizing just how much work that would be (I did about 45 different tracks...would have been a lot of cutting!) I tried to do some sort of iron-on transfer.  Since the paper would have been too expensive, I got a Sulky transfer marker.  that...didn't work.  Well, it kind of did:

yeah, not so easy to see.  But it provided me with an outline to paint over (with so soft brand fabric paint and a teeny paintbrush) so that's what i did!!  most of this was done in one day when the boy went out of town ( i think i went through 5 movies?  haha, and a very tired back).  I am very happy with the result Smiley  I would like to finish it someday and put tracks on the rest of the squares too, but for now he likes it, and it looks good, so i'm happy Smiley

full blanket. sorry it's hard to see, it's not actually faded like that, the material is just slightly shiny so the sunlight bounced off :/

close-up.  this is true to color, with the tracks being a very solid black.

'nother close up
and just for fun, a couple bags I made and stenciled for friends for end-of-school presents.  it's Robert Downy Jr. and Winston the cat

comments and crit welcome!!

3  silly earflap headband thing in Crochet: Completed Projects by loserchick88 on: December 31, 2010 05:00:27 PM
ok, so, i was browsing around last night, and stumbled upon this gem :

suuuuper cute! there were a couple ideas in that post as to how to create the piece...so i just sort of took those and ran with it.  or rather, sat and watched netflix with it.  whatever.  ta da!

i'm really proud since it's the first thing i've made with no pattern whatsoever, just totally experimenting and ripping out, and having another go. next time i'll pull inspiration from this smart crafter: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=311841.0  and add buttons, cuz boy it's a pain to get on and off while kepin your hair cute.
it's made from two strands sparkle-aire white, and the pink is a mix of one strand vanna's choice in a variegated pink, and one strand of some bulky weight bright pink.  i messed up the braids by forgetting the strands needed to be doubled  Roll Eyes so i might re-do them.  though i'm happy with it...i'm not sure i'm confident about wearing it.  is it too silly?  c& c welcome!!

4  it's a-me! MAAAARIO!!!!! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by loserchick88 on: August 16, 2010 12:32:20 PM
inspired by enemyairship ( https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=330380.0) I made a super mario playset!!  It was a gift for my sister for her 21st birthday, and she loved them, thankfully Smiley  I found patterns by scouring the internet, and will post the ones I used at the bottem.  All the patterns were free, but if makers want me to take them down I of course will Smiley  First up though, pictures!!!

the whole gang!!

birthday girl playin with her toys Smiley

get 'im mario!!!

bob-omb from the amazing wolfdreamer : http://wolfdreamer-oth.blogspot.com/2009/04/bombomb.html  I just made my eyes bigger and added a bit of red fun-fur yarn for the fire
mario mushroom is also from wolfdreamer: http://wolfdreamer-oth.blogspot.com/2009/05/mario-brothers-mushrooms.html I made this one before I learned to do invisible decrease, so his top is a little funky, but I love him all the same
star from shh, i'm counting!:http://arpelia.blogspot.com/2008/03/super-mario-invincibility-star-crochet.html  I worked in continuous rounds, not joining, and it turned out fine for me
goomba from Nerdigurumi: http://nerdigurumi.com/2009/12/goomba-gurumi-pattern.html mine turned out a little odd, because i had very different yarn weights, and had to adjust hook size accordingly. the pattern was great though!!
Mario from geek central station: http://geekcentralstation.blogspot.com/2008/03/free-pattern-aragorn-and-boromir.html .  sort of.  I started out using this pattern, but the colour switch didn't come at a time that looked good, so at that point I just sort of ditched the pattern and started making stuff up.  I did end with the correct number of stitches when I switched to skin colour though, and I did the head following the pattern.  The facial hair, hat, and feet I just made up as I went along (first time I've done that!!  scary!).
sorry for such a long post guys!!  hope you like them!!

5  Squids in love embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by loserchick88 on: May 26, 2010 11:03:57 PM
Really overly proud of this piece, since I'm fairly new to needlework.  It's the biggest project I've taken on, and definitely the most personal. And I adore how it turned out Smiley  Pictures!

close-up of details on tentacles and signature, the colours are more true in this one.

and the picture that started this, drawn by my boyfriend

I tried my best to stay true to the original...but sometimes lines led to nowhere and had to be omitted.
thanks for looking Smiley

6  80's prom dress to...80's prom dress! in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by loserchick88 on: May 01, 2009 11:25:21 AM
Found this dress in Value Village...gosh, 5 months ago.  i pretty much bought it because of the sleeves, but besides that wasn't super super fond of it.  it was kind of an awkward length, so i fixed it! before:

sorry, that's a bad picture, but you get the idea.

again,sorry....this was taken at 1am...which for some reason means i make awkward faces?  i won't wear that face with the dress, i promise Smiley
i like it a lot now.  it's hugely poofy Smiley  also, I'm not scrunching my shoulders, that's really how huge the sleeves are.  pretty much just shortened the skirt, and it had a layer of black tulle under the skirt, so i chopped that in half and doubled it.  I'm also wearing a half petti under it, for added poof Smiley
i feel like it's kind of bland still though.  i"m wearing it to a dress-up party next saturday...and i still just feel like it's a bit too plain.  any ideas for how to "jazz it up"?
thanks for looking!

7  Re: Halloween costume ideas for 2008 in Halloween Costumes by loserchick88 on: October 20, 2008 09:34:26 PM
someone on here {i don't even know how long ago it was...it was in the early pages} was saying they were going as Juno and having their boyfriend be Bleeker.
which is also what i'm doing, haha, which i'm amazed the boy agreed to!
anywho, they were saying they were having problems making/finding a preggo belly, which was exactly my problem too.  What i ended up doing was going to a craft store and getting floral foam in a like...half-dome shape.  i then put that inside a pillowcase, and with help from my mom {haha}, added a bit of padding around the sides/a little over the belly.  mainly just eyed it.  then i sewed around the "belly" part {to keep it from shifting too much} and attached the two sides of the pillowcase in back with velcro.

picture!  haha, thats my sister's boyfriend.  you can click to see it bigger.
i hope that helps anyone who is still trying to make a fake pregnant belly!!

i'm still having trouble finding an orange and white striped top...which seems silly that it's being hard at all!!
also, boys running shorts in bright yellow are being elusive, along with yellow sweat bands...

8  Re: Show Off Your Hair! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by loserchick88 on: August 08, 2008 01:41:31 PM
timeline of my hair!
starting about junior year.

First it was blue.  for quite a while. i used splat dye i think

then blonde and black and short.

then green.  green...was a bad idea.  some people look good with green.  i don't.  this haircut was really bad too.  i looked like a muskox

right after i dyed it pink.  well, not right after, since i obviously have some roots, but it's the same color it was right after i dyed it.  it's special fx atomic pink.  it...stays

this was after...months of having it in.  at least two, possibly 4.  i tried dying overwith brown, which did nothing at all.  then i bleached it for something like an hour and a half, which gave me white white roots...and no change to the pink.  then i tried stripping the color out...which totally ruined my hair, and did pretty much nothing to the pink.  i think i finally dyed over it again with a dark, purple like color, and it finally took.  if you want pink hair, it's the dye for you.  also, i wash my hair every single day, with like, super-clean strip all the junk out shampoos.

this was after when i tried to bleach the pink out.  it didn't work, so i added blue streaks through it.  this was at graduation.  it was beautiful

this is the purple that finally got rid of the pink.  i don't remember why i got rid of this color, i love it a lot

this is my hair pretty much now.  it's a little browner, and a little darker, and quite a bit longer.  it doesn't normally look like this, i had just had cornrows in for a week, and had been sick for the past two days.

i really want blonde hair.  bad.  thing is, i don't have money {yay poor college student!}, so i really can't spend more then like...60 to get it done.  i'm scared to do it myslef, cuz my hair is actually long and healthy right now and i don't want to mess it up.

9  Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by loserchick88 on: May 11, 2008 03:59:00 PM
got this done yesterday by Justin at Adorn Body Art in Portland, OR
it's a really great place, really nice staff
first tattoo ever, and i'm dang proud that i didn't cry!
took it like a woman, laughing and joking with my brother

it's on my arm, right under the crease of my elbow
it's "love" in German, in purple, my fav color Smiley
i went to a play a few hours after it was done, after bandage was off, and spent half the night with my boyfriend grabbing my arm, shoving it in people's faces and going "look what she got done today!!  she wasn't a puss about it either!!"
made me pretty happy, haha

10  Stenciled blanket {4 pictures} in Stenciling: Completed Projects by loserchick88 on: April 18, 2008 02:09:28 PM
so i made this back in...November?  yeah, end of November for my boyfriends birthday/our anniversary/i'm going to Germany for a couple weeks and i'll miss you very much.  present.  haha.
it's all stenciled with freezer paper, and i just mixed white and black fabric paint to get the grey...which is why pretty much NONE of the greys match.  whatev.  gives it character.  and its not like he would notice  Roll Eyes
it has a layer of fleece in the middle, to give it more weight, and is backed with just plain dark red material.
full blanket:

prolly my favorite stencil:

I really like this stencil too Smiley i drew them, cuz our nicknames or whatever for each other are hippo and lelephant:

this is just a random shirt i stenciled.  i like it quite a lot Smiley  uhm, insperation from someone on here that i can't find at the moment.  her shirts were better than mine.  oh well, i still like mine:
