1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Jim Henson swap Gallery on: January 27, 2012 03:54:19 PM
after much delay, may i introduce the arrival of burstofpanties swap treats! i'm terrible with technology & my fingers crossed that it worked, but a huge thanks to everyone!
Without much more ado, here are my shiny new treasures!

a lovely painted frame of animal

a kickass muppet recyclable bag - i had no idea they even made those!

now i'm not sure how to describe this, and the picture doesn't do it justice, but it's a ... fascinator hat piece - it has a clip for my hair and has feathers w/ beads & i'm gonna rock it tonight, and i love it so much, i'll see if i can add an action shot later today

as well as a bath bomb & lotion - strawberry kiwi, the famous joann fabric (which is great, since i don't know of any joann's near me in jersey!) and a darling little ernie puppet/pen topper (as he's being used for right now)

now i'm sure there's a name for this, but it's a plushie gonzo that was sewn onto an embroidery circle, & i'm so impressed because i couldn't even think of an idea this clever, let alone actually make it happen!

and the grande finale - a shrinky dink of dr. teeth (one of my favorites!) with little gems on the hat PLUS muppet stickers! yay! now i probably need clarification, but the lovely dani must've hand-drawn this shrinky-dink, since i've never seen any like this!

so sorry if this was a little too picture heavy, but i was spoiled & the gifts needed pictures that did them justice. thanks again burstofpanties!
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Mini Roller Skate Ornaments! on: November 22, 2010 05:02:47 PM
well i can't take full credit for them, but the pattern was based off of 'knock down knits' by toni carr, who is from naptown rollergirls!

i CO 35 ST using US size 2 needles in a baby super soft black yarn.
knit for for approx. 1/2'', as that'll be where you glue on the pom-poms
purl for one entire row.
after that, knit 15, then k2together, k, k2together, knit 15.
p14, p2together, p, p2together, p14.
k13 k2tgthr, k, k2tgthr, k13
p12 p2togthr, p, p2tgthr, p12
k11 k2tgthr, k, k2tgthr, k11
p10 p2tgthr p p2tgthr, p10
k9 k2tgthr k k2tgthr k9

purl for one row, then garter stitch 5 rows.
BO - fold Finished item with the back out. i recommend using a different color for the laces, but it's easier to sew the "laces" up before i sew the boot up.
using an embroidery needle (or one with a big assed-eye) use some of the yarn you just knit with (or don't, be free & junk) i just whipstitched the bottom & back of the darn thing, then flipped the right side out. ta-da.

hope that made sense. message me for inquires or whatever :0)
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Nerdy Girl Scout, aka Myself Circa 1997 on: November 22, 2010 04:24:17 PM
amazing costume, but is that a Shabbos roll patch?!

you must know that you don't roll on Shabbos, right???! I've told that kraut a @#$#ing thousand times I DON'T ROLL ON SHABBOS!

if you didn't mean to reference a coen bros. movie, then i'm sorry. i should probably go.

it's still a sweet costume.
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Super Punch Out Mega Project on: November 22, 2010 03:41:55 PM

5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Eat A Bag Of @&!*? NSFW on: October 31, 2010 03:29:33 PM
this rules. i say that all the time, which i clearly shouldn't, since it's naughty, but i love this even more when it's a rude statement done up all delicately AND in a gold frame. good job!
6  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Mini Roller Skate Ornaments! on: November 19, 2009 09:54:45 PM
hey y'all!

so earlier today, i posted derby baby booties, which is a gift for my expecting friend, however, i knew if i didn't tell someone i was making them, i'd accidentally let it slip and tell her - so i told my friend toni (another girl on my derby team) & made her my 'secret-keeper' (yay harry potter nerds) so as a thank you, i made her some baby booties!

however, since she is not expecting (happily, i dare say so!) i decided the full sized ones would be a little less than useful.

so i made her little ornaments! they're attached by the tail, so they can be put on a xmas tree, or a car rearview mirror, or really whatever she'd like, i'm not picky.

i also made some for myself, because they were so damn adorable. and instead of knitting wheels, pom-poms were a lot easier :0)

so i hope you liked them, as well as my grandparents fantastic couch slipcovers!

7  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Roller Derby Baby Booties! on: November 19, 2009 08:38:30 AM
so one of the girls from my league (Garden State Rollergirls) announced she was pregnant, and even though i'll miss her like whoa, i figured it was time for my first EVER knit using a pattern - as scary as it was at first!

so it's totally from 'Knockdown Knits' from Joan of Dark/Joan Carr but the colors are my league's colors, just to remind Jet that she can't leave us!

so i hope you like them, Jet ADORED them and showed them off to everyone at practice - now everyone would like me to make adult sized ones, so i'll keep you posted!

9  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Dobby the House Elf Plushie on: September 09, 2007 10:07:48 AM
Here SITS Dobby, a free elf!

oh snap, HP & Deathly Hallows reference! I tried to vague-up the quote enough that someone still reading won't understand it.

but really, what's keeping you?!

good job on the dobby!
10  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: old nintendo sheets on: June 25, 2007 06:49:42 PM
i'm in the process of making a t-shirt quilt, but instead of using random material or double siding (2x the tees, not 2x the fun) i'm just sewing an old sheet to the back.

its how i stay true old school, but keep my street cred

good luck!
