1  Stumped. Can you come up with a fabric that works? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by sassy-pants on: January 22, 2012 12:10:35 PM
Hi Craftsters! Smiley

I'm going to be sewing a costume for a friend and I'm having trouble figuring out what fabric I would use.

What I need help with is the body suit. It's a full white body suit, from ankles to neck and long-sleeved. It's mostly fitted, but somewhat stretchy. I'm trying to come up with a fabric that is going to have enough stretch to be comfortable, but is opaque enough that his undies won't show. Any ideas?

I've considered knit cotton and jersey, but both of those tend to be rather translucent in a single layer. Am I going to have to double layer it and be done with it?

Thanks for your replies!

2  Rainbow Star for Kitty! in Crochet: Completed Projects by sassy-pants on: July 07, 2007 09:53:27 PM
Well, there's a cute back story to this one.  I recently reunited with my middle school crush and we're dating now.  One night, I was over at his apartment, and he mentioned how his kitty Kiko had no where to sleep except the floor.  So, being the yarn-monger I am, I found some cute yarns in my stash and crocheted her a star blankie to sleep on!  (I also sewed her a kitty bed, that's in the pets forum.)  Without further ado, pictures:

Its made with Red Heart Super Saver, in colors from my stash.  There's some black Fun Fur and Joann Sensations Rainbow Boucle at the end too.  From a familiar pattern: Beth's Little Star.  I love this pattern, and this is my second crochet project ever!  There are fifteen rounds of dc.  I did a round of sc around the edge with the fun fur and pink held together, with 4 sc in each corner.  Then I did a sc round of the boucle.

Sorry, no action photos...She's still warming up to it.  I'd love to hear some feed back!  Thanks for looking!

3  Scarf suggestions? in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by sassy-pants on: January 07, 2007 07:16:13 PM
So I bought this yarn to make a scarf for my friend this winter, and its been sitting around for over a month now.  Basically, I want it out of my stash and on her neck while its still cold in Colorado. Its a brown and teal boucle type yarn from Joann.  100% acrylic, and it knits up pretty looseish on size nines.  I'm not too sure about yardage, but I'm going to guess about 200 or so yards. I need a suggestion for a scarf pattern thats quick and still looks fairly nice, that might show off the varigation in this yarn.

Sorry about the blurry pics, I'm not that steady handed apparently!  Roll Eyes

4  Flower Petal Shawl from Elann (slightly photo heavy) in Knitting: Completed Projects by sassy-pants on: September 28, 2006 05:08:20 PM
I just finished this shawl yesterday, and it had been blocking until today when I got home from school.  I'm so pleased with how it turned out, it's going to be wonderful as the weather is getting chilly around here.  Anyways, on to the pictures!

Stretched out:

Action Shot:

Sorry about the weird look on my face, I was trying to figure out how my digital camera's timer works.  This is the Flower Petal Shawl from Elann.com, found here: http://secure.elann.com/ShowFreePattern.asp?Id=107024.  Its pretty easy but it'll keep your attention, and it's a nice lace project.  I'd recommend it for people who fear lace as it's only yarn overs, k2togs and pass slipped stitch over.  It's knit in Joann Sensations Cosetta yarn in Green.  68% Wool, 32% Nylon.

I'd love some feedback!
