22  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / I just submitted my pattern to Knitty! on: September 12, 2006 06:40:29 PM
Well, I designed a handbag to make for a friend, and then I thought, why not test my chances at getting published in Knitty? So I jumped through all the required hoops and about an hour ago I attached all the documents and pictures to an email to the editor and pressed send. I don't really know if I have a good chance or not, so please leave any comments you have. Since it's for the winter issue, I won't know if my design is in consideration for awhile, but let me know if you want me to tell you when I have updates. Thanks for looking!
23  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Felting a Zip Cardigan to make a bag on: September 12, 2006 05:08:40 PM
I have this really pretty fair isled zip cardigan that I found at Fred Meyers on sale a while ago, and I've seen lots of people on here felting sweaters and making bags out of them, but I don't know if it's a good idea to go ahead and felt this one cause of the zipper. Please comment if you have any ideas about hacking it up!

24  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / duct tape board on: August 04, 2006 06:31:58 PM
there are so many things you can make with duct tape that I think it deserves its own board
25  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / big bad baby blanket! on: August 04, 2006 06:21:11 PM
My stepmom is pregnant and I made this awhile ago (yes, before I discovered craftster), and I thought I'd share it. The yarn I used was Caron Simply Soft, and it only took about 1 1/2 skeins. It's going to get dragged around a lot by my new baby brother, so I thought it should be something acrylic, and it's still deliciously soft!

26  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / old nightgown to cute tank! on: August 03, 2006 06:53:11 PM
Recently I was going through some boxes in my room and I found this old nightgown that I used to wear when I was really little. I tried it on and it fit like a t-shirt on top, but didn't look right to wear in public. So, I broke out the scissors, needle, and thread, and started reconstructing! Basically what I did was cut the ruffles off the sleeves to use as straps, cut the top off, and cut the bottom off. Here are some pics-

A close-up of the picture on the front cause you can't see it very well and it's backwards

that's all for now...
27  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / converse + scissors = awesome new flats on: July 21, 2006 08:54:32 PM
OK I know I am definitely NOT the first one to post about revamping converse, but this is my first post so don't laugh. All I did was take an old pair of lowtops, cut the grommets off right by the seam, and then sew the tongue in. There was kind of a weird angle where the former foot opening was, so I added a little elastic ankle strap. The only not-good thing about them is that the first day you wear them they give you blisters cause chucks are mainly meant to be worn with socks but then they go away Smiley
