1  I need feedback! (Craft Fair stuff) Pic heavy in Get Product and Website Opinions by Cuttie_2008 on: June 23, 2010 06:16:08 PM
Hey everyone, I'm currently working on stuff for a craft fair and I'd LOVE your feedback! I have pictures of everything I've done so far and details under the pictures.

I would love love love C&C on everything except the dishcloths, as I already have 2 dozen of them Wink

Edited to add:
I need help with pricing too. What would you pay/charge for each item?

Also, have a few more things on my to-do list for this event:
hand-bound journals
purses/tote bags

What do you think of those ideas? Any/all help is appreciated.  Smiley

Wrist pincushion! I made it up out of my noggin, but it's obviously not a new idea.
ribbon/velcro strap, adjustable from 4.5" to 8"
the base is an upcycled orange juice cap ^^
stuffed with poly-fill

Dish scrubbie! I got the lovely pattern here http://arpelia.blogspot.com/2008/09/super-simple-tawashi-flower.html.
acrylic yarn (I've got lots more colors than blue)
tulle crocheted into the yellow part for added scrubbie-ness
about 4" across

Pincushion! Made up the pattern.
Upholstery fabric/button from my stash
Poly-fill stuffing
about 4" across

Flower headband! I made the pattern up for this too.
bought the headband itself
flower made from upcycled t-shirt
flower is 4 1/4" across

Crocheted dishcloths/spa cloths! Pattern is made up.
100% cotton
about 8x8"

Like I said, C&C on everything but dishcloths please! Grin Thanks a bunch!

Made lovingly! ^____^ (They are this, that, and the other thing)

My first experience with polymer clay =) I think it turned out pretty well, im especially happy with the door. The key took me a few tries..The door is a keychain for him, and the key is a necklace for  me. He has the door, and I have the key, so togetherwere DOOR-KEY! Lol, get it? DORKY!  haha thats right, Im awesome. xD I got the idea from him though, so hes awesome too Wink

That is actually the card I made for him and its a little personal, so Im not going to put up pictures ^^;

Isnt it cute? ^^ its a rice heat pack, theyre easy to make. =) Our of..er..old boxers ^^; The piece you see is the slip cover thing, theres another pouch thinger inside. =) You can microwave it for a heat pack or stick it in the freezer for a cold pack. =D I think he liked it.

(Please check all this and more out on my infantile blog!)

3  3 Scarves for Craft Hope (with semi-tuts) in Crochet: Completed Projects by Cuttie_2008 on: January 28, 2010 03:34:07 PM
If you guys dont know about Craft Hope, you should. Click here to learn about Craft Hope goodness! Its a wonderful organization that hooks you up people who need your crafts! Its great. Anyway, project 6 needs scarves (before 2.14.10), so I crocheted some! =D I even kept track of the patterns (sorta ^^;)  The patterns are mine, so dont pass them off as yours, but I dont really care if you sell stuff made from them. Theyre pretty basic. Pictures and patterns!

Scarf #1

Any medium sized hook will work for this, I used a K.

Gauge isnt important.

Ch 28

Rows: Ch 2, turn. hdc in each stitch, but only through the back loop. (This causes the ribbing.)

Repeat this row about a million times until your scarf is long enough. (Mines about 56″) Dont fasten off!

Finishing: start sc down the side of the scarf. When you get to the corners, sc twice in the same spot. Keep sc-ing around all the sides, then fasten off and weave in the ends. Done!

Scarf #2

This is really easy, just follow the pattern for Scarf #1 (but different basic stitches), but randomly throw in some stripes. In mine, all of the white sections are done in dc. The red stripes are various sc, dc, and tc. (Ch 1 for sc, 3 for dc, and 4 for tc before turning.) Theres no rhyme or reason to the striping, just do what looks good! I backposted all of the rows, and finished the same as Scarf #1.

Scarf #3

Again, any medium hook size. Mine was M.

Gauge isnt important.

Everything in this scarf is backposted.

Ch 200ish in color 1 (as long as you want the scarf to be, mine was kinda really long o.0)

Rows 1-2: dc in each st. ch 3, turn

Row 3: dc in each st, fasten off

Row 4: start color 2, ch 3 and turn. dc in each st. fasten off

Row 5: start color 1 again, ch 1 and turn. SC in each st. fasten off

Row 6: repeat row 4.

Rows 7-9: repeat row 1-3 in color 1, fasten off.

weave in ends.

Sorry for the crappy pattern-writing skills ^^; please let me know what I can clear up for you.
(Is it illegal for me to tell you that all this is on my new baby blog too? =/ )
Thanks for looking! Comments and critiques please!

4  Home-made Cheshire Cat Costume! (img husky) in Halloween Costumes by Cuttie_2008 on: November 03, 2009 12:02:37 PM
Hello all! Cheesy This year I was the Cheshire cat for halloween  Grin This is how I did it! It was pretty easy.

First, I bought a light purple sweatsuit from a thrift store (cheap!). I made the sweat pants into the skirt I'm wearing, then I made the ears and boot gators from the leftover pant fabric. The leggings came from the girls section at target. Wink For the stripes, I used purple duct tape! Man, that stuff is amazing. The tail is light purple fleece that I just sewed, stuffed, and striped. I was going to use wire to hold it stiff, but I couldn't find my wire. Oh well. =) I did my own make up with eye shadow from target. I had purple striped gloves too =) They're only in one picture though.

The whole thing!

this shows most of it. And the gloves!

This one is just to show how the tail hangs, sorry my arm is kinda in the way..  Smiley

This is the best one of my make up. (Janelle was a kitty too!)

And of course, the crazy cat himself. My inspiration.  Smiley

Thank you guys so much for looking, I hope you like it! Cheesy
C&C please  Smiley

5  My first teired cake! in Dessert by Cuttie_2008 on: September 24, 2009 09:59:58 PM
Hey guys, I go to Le Cordon Bleu in St Paul, MN. =) This is my wedding cake project from a couple weeks ago. It's a dummy cake. It's just fondant, royal icing, and gum paste. The small tasting cake is an Italian Cream Cake. I wanted something a little different than plain white cake, but I wasn't willing to go as far away from the ordinary as chocolate. I guess I'm just kind of traditional. =) Hope you like it! (btw I got 100 on it!)

Full cake. 6, 8, 12" dummies with a 14" cake board

Top decoration. Floral foam ball covered with fondant and gum paste flowers.

This one's just for some detail. =) I know the piping's not perfect..

8" tasting cake

Thanks for looking!

Hello all! I just wanted to share my cute sock monkey ^^ He's going to Craft Hope, Project 4 (http://crafthope.com/?p=285). All the sock monkeys collected before 09.18.09 will be going off to Californian children who have been victims of severe burns in the recent wild fires. Please help them!

Anyway, here he is. =) I want to name him Roger, but I'm not going to because I know the name won't stick when he goes to his new home in CA. =)

full body. he's made of those awesome fuzzy socks at the dollar store!

side view, mostly for the tail. =)

glamor shot! I used fabric instead of buttons for the eyes because he's going to children. =)

Yay! I'm proud of him. comments and critique are loved.

8  The, "Sorry Babe, I went a little overboard..." Going-Away Present!!! [img hvy] in Completed Projects by Cuttie_2008 on: August 12, 2008 11:44:37 AM
So my boyfriend and I are both off to college later this week, he's going to New Orleans and I'm going to Minneapolis. So of course I had to make him a present. Smiley or two. or seven.

For those of you redirected from my metaphorical "HELP ME" page, thank you so much! I tried to use as many of your great ideas as I could, but I was kinda crunched for time ("oh, shite, i have to get this done today!" kinda thing)

On to the gift!

So I was going to write him a letter explaining the rules, but I ran out of time, so I just told him.
Rule 1: You can't open it until you get there.
Rule 2: You can only open 1 every week.
Rule 3: You have to tell me which one you opened when.

They're all wrapped individually and are in a big box Smiley

Item 1:
Coupon book!
He loves the stuff I bake so I made a coupon book for me to send him stuff! ("down the river" means the mississippi, we're both really close to it.)
The font is Cookies, I downloaded it here -> http://www.dafont.com/cookies.font

sample page (perforated w. sewing machine)

whole book

Item 2:
Mix CD!
hopefully you can read the track list, let me know if you can't and i'll post it separately. Smiley

Item 3:
Pon and Zi Keychain!
made from a #6 recyclable plastic to-go box, shrinky dink style  Cool

Item 4:
Picture Frame!
dollar store frame decorated with a broken cd Smiley The pictures in it are modified mall photos Smiley

Item 5:
Crappy Stationary Kit!
-super- pressed for time, just a few envelopes, lined paper, and stamps. I plan to send him some address labels when I know my apartment number.

Item 6:
"88" Magnet Marbles!
("88" [---.. ---..] means "love and kisses" in morse code)

the images

the magnets! (still a mite gluey)

Item 7:
Fleece Blanket!
It's 60" x ~70"
it looks way better in real life, it's supposed to be blue, dark green, and black with a black backing

Item 8:
This one didn't make it into the box of gifts because he came over as I was finishing it. Cheesy oops. So when I finished, I just handed it to him and said, "happy birthday Smiley" and since i finished it in front of him and then just gave it to him, i didn't get a picture. But it's similar to this one Grin

with this fabric

Item 9:
Opalite Heart!
this one didn't make it in because I forgot about it. Tongue I think I'll mail it to him.
(I didn't make this, I bought it at a local rock shop)
The quarter is there for size ref

And that's it for my over-the-top gift! Grin Thank you so much for looking, comments and critique are loved! Cheesy

9  How can I get paint off glass? in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by Cuttie_2008 on: February 17, 2008 01:27:35 PM
My mom bought this really cool wall hanging at the Dac-Mart in town. When she accidentally scratched part of the outside, she discovered a hidden treasure; glass! A beautiful blue glass had been painted with what looks like just plain acrylic paints. She started scraping the paint off with a knife but the glass is textured so it missed some. Do you guys have any ideas of how to get all this paint off?

10  Messenger bag! Very first, in Red and Black in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Cuttie_2008 on: November 02, 2007 07:46:40 PM
I'm so proud of it! I used kategirl's tute loosely. (here) Thank you for the help, kategirl!

I used black canvas and the strap thinger from Hancock, the lining ("hand-weaved cotton") and mini roses from Wal-Mart, the front red piece and the red of the strap from Ben Franklin (15% off, w00t!), and the buttons are from my collection. ^^

I'm not sure how long it took, but I finished in time for school! (Yea, it's kinda old..it's holding up well!)

Edit: The red part on the front is a big pocket. It closes with velcro.

Pictures! (I tried to make them small...)

Below: Full view

Below: Inside

Below: Open (you can see the pockets ^^)

Below: Strap detail

Below: From detail

Below: Action shot! (unflattering action shot...)
