1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Altered Tin- a blessing for sewers on: May 26, 2014 11:52:56 AM
This past month I've really be into sewing. And when I was in my local miniature store (yup, there is a store just down the street from me that sells miniature and dollhouse supplies Wink) I found some of the cutest, and smallest sewing notions I have ever seen. They seemed perfect for using in an altered craft. So I bought them and made this:

I called it A Blessing for Sewer.

Here's a close up of the inside:

I took the label off a vintage spool from my stash. I can't remember where I got the picture of the woman. Probably from Alpha Stamps. I got the sewing machine, spools of thread, buttons, yarn stick (shown in next picture) and scissors from the miniature store. I used one of my many thimbles to set the sewing machine on.

All of the lace used is vintage. I wrote the blessing (and added the word 'be' between always and straight).

And outside:

I had some scrap booking paper that looked like a sewing pattern in my stash and used that for the outside of the tin.

Thanks for looking!
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / family portrait match stick box on: March 17, 2011 11:38:21 AM
So I made this match stick box for my boyfriend. He is a very practical guy, likes things to have a purpose. I decide that the box could function as a family portrait to sit on his desk at work. It's very small so it won't take up much room.

This is the outside of the box

And here it is open

I've been making water colour inchie background  (shout out to Noooo for her awesome advice) and I decided to do a drawing of the most important people in Ben's life.

First are the cats:

Lou and Trouser (who I call T-woww) Lou is a big cat and has vampire fangs. One of which is much longer than the other.
Trouser is an orange cat who is wears a green coller.

Then I did a drawing of me and hockey:

Ben and I are big hockey fans. It's an inside joke of ours, I will tell Ben that I'm going to spend time with my other boyfriend, Hockey. And then there is another layer to the joke because I put a maple leaf as the image for hockey. I'm a Toronto Maple Leafs fan and Ben likes the Montreal Canadians, bit of a rivalry between the two teams. It's a jab at Ben for not liking the Leafs. He asked me why I used a Maple Leaf and I told him that the Leaf represents Canada, not the Toronto team. But that was a lie! HA ha!
Anyway here is a photo of all the inchies together:

Thanks for looking
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Map of Canada on: February 01, 2011 07:05:00 PM
I made this hoop a few months ago. I really like the embroidered maps of the States, but wanted to make something related to Canada. So here it is:

How This Swap Works:
Please READ CAREFULLY! This swap works differently than most!

Try to imagine a chain.  The first link is the first person whose theme list is on page 1 (Person A) (this will be the organizer as will the last wish closing out the swap)
Now, we want to put another link in the chain.  People will read that list and see if they want to make an ATC from that list.

Someone (Person B) will claim Person A for an ATC made in the theme of one of the items on their theme list.  They post a reply to the thread that says I claim Person A for a [fill in the blank] ATC.  This is my X claim (however many times they have picked someone for example, "this is my fourth claim, with one sent, and three received, (meaning that this is the fourth claim they've made, one is in transit to it's destination, and three of the items have been received by the people they previously claimed).  Also be sure to add your location to your list of themes so that people can decide if they want to claim someone overseas or not.  You  may want to add anything that you may not like to receive.

IT'S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT YOU REPLY WITH YOUR STATUS WHEN YOU CLAIM SOMEONE!  This means you need to post who you are claiming and for what, how many claims you have made, including how many in transit and how many received.

Then comes the fun part!  After the introduction, Person B is the last link in the chain, and they post their theme list!!!   Be sure to PM the person you have claimed for their address.  Or you can PM the person who claimed you and send them your address.

I claim Person A for a zombie ATC.  This is my 3rd claim, 2 sent, 1 received
I live in Massachusetts, USA .  I would prefer not to receive anything violent, political, or religious.   My themes are:
1)   funny foods
2)   polka dots
3)   monster movies
4)   The letter E
5)   cats

Along comes Person C, who claims Person B for something on their list and the chain is built, link by link.

When you want to make a claim, you can ONLY pick from the very last theme list in the chain.  You can't pick anyone else in the chain - you can only connect to the very end of the chain, which is that last wish list posted.

Friends of Craftster are allowed 10 claims at one time, others are allowed 7 wishes.  If this is your first swap, you are only allowed one claim.  When that claim is received you can then claim the number of times you are allowed depending on your membership status.   If you already have one claim that will be sent out late, please don't claim again until that one is sent out.   You DO NOT need a DCN for this swap, but if your ATC is not received, you will need to resend.

Become a Friend of Craftster!  Go here: https://www.craftster.org/subscribe.

If you are at your limit of claims, you can choose again once one of your partners receives, NOT when you send.
***Do not claim someone unless you can fulfill that wish to a high caliber***

Let's keep the quality of work high people!  Send something you would like to receive if you were the recipient.

Now if the thread gets in a rut for a few days/hours, the person who made the last claim should add to their theme list if they can think of anything else, until someone decides to craft for them. Please make sure this is not you!

After receiving your ATC, be sure to post a picture of it in the gallery.  You will not receive feedback until you do.  If you are having camera troubles, be sure to tell the person who has claimed you so that they can take a picture before sending.

Communication is a GOOD thing.  If you are having issues, please tell the organizer and the person you have claimed.  Poor communication will be noted in feedback.
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Bird Pillow covers on: July 19, 2009 01:52:18 PM
Hello all
I just made two pillow covers for my chesterfield. They are standard, run of the mill pillow  covers. The really cool thing about them is the fabric.

Close up of one

Close up of other

Now, you are probably asking where did I get this wonderful fabric? Well you will never guess.
For trues! And it was only $2.99 a meter! There was a lot of other really cool fabric there. Word to the wise, not all IKEA's have all of their textile prints in stock phone ahead. Their website won't tell you which stores have the fabric and which don't.
Thanks for looking Cheesy

7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Felt Mascot Jason from Home Movies (the cartoon show) on: June 21, 2007 08:21:32 PM
Hello my crafty comrades!
I have been making felt mascots from the wonderful book called "The Cute Book" by Aranzi Aronzo. I was inspired to make my own F mascot and after much consideration I decided to make Jason Penopolis, one of the characters in the cartoon TV show Home Movies. I made Jason first because he is my favourite charactor and I  had the right colour of felt to make him. What do you think? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make Jason's hands look better? Thanks for your opinions and looking,
Ramona Q

I used the Richard Simmons 80's Blast-off DVD as a reference point

Here is a close up of his face:

And one of his chest and beaded outfit:

And to balance it out, a photo of his back:

I have had so much fun making my monkey.  Everyone on this board is so talented and you all inspire me to live a more crafty life.
