1  dress for a woodstock theme party in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kaffee_bohnen on: May 17, 2011 02:22:08 PM
I went to a Woodstock-themed garden party on the weekend, and dalthough there are all sorts of things in the shops that could work for the theme, I decided to make my own dress.  I'm really proud of this thing because it's the first time I've drafted my own pattern successfully.  Without further ado:

2  looking for inspiration in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by kaffee_bohnen on: March 23, 2008 04:23:59 PM
I've decided to make a wall-hanging for my friend's wedding this summer.  I've got the concept: four squares about 12" wide, each with five ovals in a row across the front.  The ovals will be embellished to look like: birds, trees, and beakers (the groom is a chemist) but I'm having trouble with deciding on what my fourth square will contain.  In my sketch, it's fruits, but I have two problems with this: (1) it's hard to identify the fruits, due to weird scale and shape, and (2) the fruits don't have as much repeat as the other concepts.   (ie. the trees, birds, and beakers are identical except for colour and scale)

I asked a friend or two and they've suggested replacing the fruits with candies or with coffee mugs, but I'm not 100% sold on either of these ideas, so I thought I'd ask some fabulous craftsters for ideas.

The Concept:

images inspired by various things I've seen on the internet... so if they look familiar, they probably are.

3  greeeeeeen jacket in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kaffee_bohnen on: March 15, 2008 09:00:21 PM
Every time I visit my parents, I take a sewing project with me... can be tough to pass the hours on the farm without something to keep you busy... So this is one of those projects.  I started making it about a year ago, but got discouraged or something and didn't bother to finish the sleeves until just recently.  I can't believe I just left it hanging in the back of a closet all that time.  I love this thing!

the front (it matches up perfectly, except for when I'm leaning against walls, then one side hangs longer than the other):

and the back:

4  goddaughter's Christmas dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by kaffee_bohnen on: February 12, 2008 05:29:26 PM
My sweet little goddaughter's been asking me every time I see her if I still like to make clothes.  I figured I'd take that as a hint about what she wanted for Christmas this year - behold, her Christmas jumper.  Not sure if you can tell from the photo, but the plaid has a stripe in it the colour of the shirt she's wearing.  Also, I didn't get a shot of it, but I stitched a label on the inside where I drew little hearts on it and wrote something special for her.

I was pretty stoked that it fit her properly, since I took no measurements, only estimated size from photos I've got of her and me together.  She was pretty stoked that I gave her something I'd made.

This is the first project I've posted on here, too!  how do i post images... o please I hope that worked. doh!
