1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Advise on what to stuff/put inside.... on: December 27, 2009 07:22:36 PM
Hi all!

I didn't really know where to post this..so hopefully, I'll get enough traffic here to help me with my dilemna.

Ok, I'm going to be making a doll/voodoo guy/stuffie for a friend of mine in Belfast.  I've already got the materials, etc..this isn't the first time I'll be making something like this..BUT what I want this little guy to do is sit on his rump & be rump heavy.  My friend is a journalist & writer, he will be at his home office half the time he's not at work..so I kinda wanted this as a paperweight/stress-release when he hits a mental block.  I thought about beans...or maybe sand like the ones in some pin cushions.  I'm not sure which one would be better, though.  Has anyone made something like this?

TIA for your help!  And Happy New Year to all of you!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / backpack etc unhappiness (image plentiful) on: July 24, 2007 06:25:07 PM
hello, all!

been in the purse/bag/totes/backpack zone the past month..i'm usually pretty happy with the stuff i make..but these 2..ugh i'm not very happy with.

the pink & green one:  the flower i made, i dorked it up...i usually just cut flower shapes, layer & sew a button or beads on..buuut this time, i thought i'd make a cherry blossom shape w/interfacing.  oh, pfffft that didn't work out too well...

the other one, s'posed to be a triangular-shaped backpack (tapers on top) buuuut it's almost square & the envelope flap looks too small!!  Angry  i'm s'posed to deliver this tomorrow (the lady who wants it is going taking it on a Eurotrip!)   plus, i usually make the flap a bit bigger but her she said she wanted just a "barely there" flap..which i didn't agree with..but since i "custom order", i guess i couldn't sit there & argue with her.

action shot (modeled by my daughter)

anyhoooo, thoughts??  anything i could've/should've done to make #2 better (for future reference)Huh

these others i'm not too unhappy about...

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / big bottom purses (quite a few pics) on: May 11, 2007 12:34:08 PM
hello, all!  here's some of the purses i've made the past week.  i'm still making & selling 'em (knock on wood).  for some reason, i've been into the less boxy looking totes/purses.  i can't quite get the really rounded shaped yet, they're more oblong-ish..but i'm too tight to pay for patterns.  Tongue

anyhugh just thought i'd share.

this is my version of one i saw in a magazine (can't remember what happened to the page i ripped out now  Sad )..and is my purse (can't part with it!)

diaper bag:

and another (leftover fabric from last season's collection)

thanks for looking. have a good weekend, all!

PS. sorry for the large pics
thanks for looking!
4  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Help in finding a good sweater pattern for men! on: January 05, 2007 09:59:46 AM
hi, all!  i've looked where i can think of (i'm incredibly search-engine impaired, alas) for a crochet pattern for my ever patient hubby.  i've given myself a deadline..if i can't find one in a couple of weeks, then i'm knitting it.  a freebie would be great, too.  Grin i've found a couple but he pooh pooh'd them cos they looked like "something danny terrio would wear".  Roll Eyes picky picky picky!

any & all help would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / more purses, yo' on: September 09, 2006 07:48:44 PM
ok these are just a couple of the ones i've made this past week.  i especially love the michael miller light bright (the green with dots one).  it was a bit of a pain in the heiny to do the zipper, maybe just cos i really would almost rather eat a can of worms rather than do any sort of zipper (lazy).  Roll Eyes but after the second one..zippers & i have declared an uneasy truce..and i think i might be doing more zippers in the future..and more of the fall colors, too..these are the last of my springie-cum-summer purses.  i've got a lot of gorgeous boucle fabric i got over the weekend at joann's..1/2 of the clearance (so about $2.00/per yard)..weeeei! anyhooooo just my end o' summer hurrah.  Cheesy

(edit) duh forgot the pics!!
