1  Re: Fantasy, Fairytales, Faeries and Folklore round 2 gallery! in The Swap Gallery by chanemza on: June 23, 2009 02:32:34 PM
I know she's been busy and hasn't had time since receiving her package, so I hope my partner doesn't mind me posting some pics (feel free to post better ones when you can, little-green-dragonfly!) Smiley

First up, the original "large" that turned into the small:

Originally, I had intended for this to be the cover for a grimoire...  which went horribly wrong when binding for the first time.  Since I had spent so much time on this part of it, I said "oh, screw it!  It's an ATC!" and set about cutting the thing down to size Smiley  It's an vintage photo with fabric ornaments and silver paints with ink embellishments.  She's a fairy queen Smiley

Next up:

This is a fabric journal cover (one of two, and both with journal included), which was to make up for the sadly destroyed grimoire idea.  Another vintage photo with fabric embellishments.

Here is the other one:

It came out a bit crooked Sad  The text reads:  "Fae Tales" - made with my new sewing machine with all the fancy-dancy stitches Cheesy

And as an extra, I made her a little name plaque:

She's made with some craft leaves painted pink and the fairy itself is a polly pocket doll that my daughter graciously gave up for the cause Smiley

I also included some altoid tins for altering and filled each with some candy Smiley

I really hope you liked everything Smiley  It was fun to swap with you!

Here is the dotee I received from Fiberdogs:

She's a mermaid!!  I love her face, and her shells were perfectly intact!

She also sent some gorgeous hand-stamped notecards and some fabric and a sweet note.  Unfortunately, I don;t have pics of them yet - since I have been sick, my daughter was trying to be helpful and cleaned off my desk (where I'd had them tucked away) and can't remember where she put them... I personally think my little artist tucked them away in her room Tongue  As soon as I find it all, I'll post pics Smiley

Thank you so much, Fiberdogs, and I hope you and your family are feeling better!

OMG!!!  I can't believe I missed all this!  See, I opened the package on the back, starting at the little tear.  It looked like that was it, just a white backing.  BUT, when I was checking it out, I realized it was rather thick, so tore through it just in case.  HOLY MOTHERLOAD OF AWESOMENESS!!!  There was a LOT more in there!

Unfortunately, in my ripping, I accidentally ripped one of the things in there Sad  But fear not - a little modgepodge and it'll go right on something very cool and you'll never know (ok, you will, but it'll still look cool).  It's pictures of marilyn at the beach!!  I love Marilyn SOOO much - and she even mermaid-ized her!  It can't get any cooler than that!

The little mermaid pictures are little collages with real shells and Marilyn as a mermaid!!

Note says:

" I read that you like Marilyn Monroe so I've made her into a mermaid and sent some extra photos of her that I have - where she looks like a mermaid!  I hope you like them.  I love their tails and esp the texture  Smiley Smiley Smiley "

[note to LGD:  I have always loved those beach pics of her, thank you SOO much for them, and for the gorgeous mermaids you made her into!]

Next up:

A sweet little beaded mermaid and starfish, with a lovely mermaid fabric pouch Smiley

Two notes:

on the beaded things:
"There was no pattern for the beaded mermaid. She is an adaptation from a lady pattern and a crocodile tail - made longer at the end - to be more like a mermaid's tail!  The starfish is a little friend for it Smiley"

[these are going to be made into pendants for a necklace Smiley ]

Note on the pouch:
"I saw this fabric and had to buy some, to make a small pouch for you.  Then I saw the faerie fabric and decided to make 2 Smiley  The machine played a trick on me with the faerie pouch - made the stitching funny.  Sorry about that.  I think I had some brownies nearby.  Such mischeivous little fellows!"

[no worries, I love them both Smiley ]

Next up, a needlebook!

Note says:
This is for your needles.  To keep them sharp and clean and safe.  Esp from toes!  The mermaid from some fabric of old school tats.  I thought you'd like her.  My machine was attacked by brownies again - whilst zigzag stitching - I'm new to the machine"

[I absolutely love her.  And I must be blind, because I didn't notice any errors Smiley ]

And for the finale we have this:

How cute is this?!  And PS:  here's where the fairy fabric pouch comes in.

Note says:
"I didn't do a very good job on this little mermaid. [Note from me:  whatEVER!  She's adorable!] But I though you would get a giggle out of it anyway.  I put strands of red seaweed through her hair like a little crown."

And an extra note: "Thank you for swapping with me.  I had a blast crafting for you.  Hope you like everything Smiley Cheers, little green dragonfly" (and a cute little hand-drawn dragonfly)

Thank YOU, LGD - and I only hope my measly little package measures up!

I think I may have to send a bit extra, I'm totally sweating my package now!

Thank you SO, SO much for everything!!!

I received from Little Green Dragonfly  Grin Grin Grin  She totally catered to my addiction to mermaids - AND chocolate Cheesy

I love it all!  Now, just so you know, there was a tear in the package's back side, so I'm not sure if anything's missing.  Even so, I love everything, and she even included little notes Smiley  (I wish I'd thought to do that, so when it comes in, please let me know, LGD - There may be a couple of things that need explaining, I'll let you know what it's all about Smiley

Here's what I got:

The little notes are ADORABLE!!  Here's what they say:

In the lid of the sweet little chest:
"This chest holds precious mermaid jewelry.  The bronze has been slightly tarnished by years of being deep in the sea, under so much water Smiley"

For the bracelet and earrings (I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colors of all of this, by the way - they're PERFECT!!):
"The bracelet and earrings are water beads shot with squid ink - as a mermaid swam past and startled the squid."
(how cool is that Smiley )

For the necklace (also wayyy gorgeous!)
"The pendant on the necklace is meant to be like a whale's tail coming out of the water and all the beads are water droplets flying up and around the mermaid's (who wears the necklace) neck Smiley )

And for the extra:

TIM TAMS!!  And she even included illustrated instructions for performing the legendary Tim Tam Slam!!

Thank you, little green dragonfly!  I certainly hope to swap with you again, and I hope we remain crafty friends for a long time to come!   Grin Grin

I received from ladybags Smiley  She is an adorable retro gal, complete with her bottle of coca-cola and her elvis record, and wearing the cutest little poodle skirt.  And if you look closely, she even has on saddle shoes!

8  Re: Friends of Craftster Raffle Swap R5 FOCR R5 Fresh Bloomin' Gallery in The Swap Gallery by chanemza on: May 06, 2009 06:16:40 PM
I'm home with my youngest, who has a pretty high fever.  The Dr. said it's just a cold, but with all the crap going around, I've been babying her quite a bit.  So tonight I had her doing her homework and thought I'd share this with all of you Smiley

Her teacher is having them do "Kindergarten spelling" which essentially means that they have to come up with their own spelling of a word, as opposed to asking a grow-up for the actual spelling.  It says:

"My mom is nus to me and she is fun wif me and she is pide and she is nus to us."

Translation:  "My mom is nice to me and she is fun with me and she is pretty and she is nice to us."

Hope it's ok to post this, I just thought I'd break up the swap anxiety with a little cuteness Smiley

I received!!!  I'm home with my youngest today, she's sick with a bad cold (went to the Dr. this morning, and yes, she's fine - though mom was a bit panicked...  Embarrassed )  So it was such an awesome surprise to open up the mailbox and find a package I *knew* had to be from the FOC raffle!

I tore into that sucker like nobody's business, so sorry I didn't get a pic of the cute snail goldfishpollywog stamped on the outside  Embarrassed Tongue Roll Eyes

Here's the snail stamp:

I thought the pictures were cute when she posted them, but oh, this stuff is SOOO much prettier in person.  The colors are gorgeous, and the design is impeccable!

And mermaid fabric!  Gee, how DID she know?!   Wink  I LOVE it, and it's a pattern I don't have  Grin

Checking out the awesomeness of the needlebook, I discovered this in the pocket:

Another mermaid!  It's so gorgeous, I wish you could see the beautiful colors - all my favorites!  Here's a closer look:

And all the crafty gorgeousness together:

I had to take out the scissors and admire them... the color is sooo pretty!  Which leads me to the thought that only a crafter could obsess over something like scissors Tongue
