1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Drops Design 103-6 Cabled top/dress on: January 11, 2008 06:12:04 AM
I think you did a fabulous job!!!...in fact, I think yours looks better than the one on DROPS, because the colour is nicer, and the buttons they use in the original makes the whole thing look a bit frumpy. The way you did it makes the top part look more corset-like, which seems more flattering.

As for wearing it, I also vote for slim black pants and the crochet belt, if not something wider. This'll give it a nice empire waist Smiley  Ooh, I'm going to have to make one now...it's so pretty!!  Cheesy

I'm going to take a look about getting the book and will hopefully be back soon!

Thanks so much for all the nice comments!!  You guys rock Cheesy

I think I've succumbed to the votes for a sleeve, I'm working on it now. I hoped to have a pic of at least the one sleave by now, but I kinda messed it up and had to start over.  Grrrr...the bad thing about making stuff up I guess.

But more pics to come I promise!

What a great colour combo, it looks great!!

Maybe try washing it with a mild conditioner, to soften the hair a bit??  Just an idea.

Hey all, I'm just trying to get back on the wagon after a bit of a craft hiatus (don't you hate it when life gets too busy to knit??) and wanted to show you this tank I made up.

The yarn is some cotton I had in my stash which didn't look like enough to do anything in just one colour, so I tried putting them together and came up with this.  It was knit on 3.5mm (US 4), with horseshoe lace for the frill and the lace inset, a polka-dot pattern in stranded colourwork and the back is the lace pattern from Wenlan Chia's Tea Rose Halter in the spring issue of IK.

I've got a question though.... I have more of the pink left over. Do you think it will look nicer with a small cap sleeve??

I would do it in the same lace pattern as the inset, I think, but of course other suggestions are welcome!

Those are great!  I love it when people experiment with their knits Cheesy  Especially when they turn out as well as yours.  The mini sweater is especially gorgeous!

That Barbara Walker book sounds great, I am all about making stuff up, especially without seams!!!  I've also been meaning to get one or two of her Treasury books, as I have a couple of stitch pattern books and find myself looking through them all the time for ideas.

[Would anyone be interested in a Barbara Walker knitalong?

me!  me!

I love Rebecca patterns, I love it when I can see different people's takes on them.  Yours are absolutely fabulous, what a colour!  And they both fit you so nicely, great job!
