1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Looking for a summer dress pattern on: February 19, 2006 04:40:32 PM

I've fallen in love with this fabric, I have a cowboy obsession.

and I'd really like to make a dress out of it, but I'm having trouble finding a pattern for the dress that's in my head.

Anything sort of like this dress

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / a little bit of pretty yarn on: April 14, 2005 05:27:00 PM
I was at the yarn store the other day (imagine that!) and shuffling through the sale bin I found a few skiens of some different yarns that were all very cute and pretty and I couldn't help buying them because they were that sweet.

I've been racking my brains, and I was wondering if anyone knew any small projects that would do my pretty yarn justice.
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / how to make jointed dolls on: August 30, 2004 01:45:22 PM
Hey! How can I make a doll with movable arms and legs? What do I used for joints? How do they attach? This knowledge escapes me.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / boxes! on: August 10, 2004 05:06:01 PM
I want to buy some small unfinished wooden boxes for decorating, some with lids an other more like shadow boxes. I feel like I should be able to find some pretty easily and yet...no luck. Anyone know where I can get some?
5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / folding chinese takeout boxes on: August 10, 2004 11:54:46 AM
Does anyone have a template for folding boxes in the Chinese takeout style. I cannot figure out how to do this myself.
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Gorey curtain on: May 18, 2004 02:15:09 PM
I was going through some old boxes of books in my basement and found a copy of an Edward Gorey book that I had already replaced some time ago. Well, I absolutely love Gorey's work, and, seeing as how they are all arranged in handy little same sized blocks. I thought I could make a really cool curtain.

My plan is to to cut out all the ones I like and get them laminated at Kinkos. THen I can punch in some grommits and tie them all together with black string.
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / My anthropologie knockoff on: May 18, 2004 02:05:53 PM
I was shopping for this party I had to go to in anthropologie, and I happened across this shirt

And I thought to myself, "Me oh my, wouldn't I look luverly in that?" So I was all ready to fork up my hard earned cashola when I sneaked a lucky peek at the price tag and notice that this little ol' destroyed top was 60$!!!!

Needless to say, I went home empty handed. I tromped up to my closet and hauled out a boring old normal black t-shirt and a pair of scissors. In about 3 seconds I had an exact copy. All I did was cut of the collar part and the sleeves. Leaving an unhemmed tank top. I cut the shoulder part that was left into two parts, with the slit inbetween them going as low as the armpit. I cut a strip from the removed sleeves and tied the two straps together. Voila! My own Anthropologie knockoff!

In conclusion, Anthropologie is a great place to get ideas to make very easy and elegant alterations on basic clothing. I plan to spy there again in the near future.
