1  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / paisley double knitting chart? on: December 04, 2007 10:15:44 AM
Hello Everyone!

In a few weeks I will be on vacation from work and school, and would like to take on a slightly challenging double knit scarf project.

I my mind I see a paisley or paisley-like design... but I can't seem to find a chart/pattern any where.  Maybe it's not possible since your only using two colors?

I'm thinking about trying to make my own on graph paper... but I thought I'd ask if anyone knew of one before making more work for myself.

Otherwise I might just attempt this one instead:

my boyfriend wants one too, so i'll be joining in the fun....

i'm going to try to make it for him for x-mas, but i don't know if i'll actually have time or not.

what about socks? I love them because they are small, quick, and portable!  I am really busy right now, so larger projects take me ages.  I'd recommend you do two at a time though... if you have a short attention span you could easily fall victim to second sock syndrome!

oh wow!  Thank you... I didn't even think to look at a shoe store website!  Thanks!

I am making a pair of socks for a friend for x-mas, but i'm not sure how long to make the foot... I don't want to go by my foot because I wear a size 9/10ish and she's only a 5/6ish!

I suppose I could measure a shoe at a shoe store... but I thought if there were any other craftsters out there who had smallish feet they could give me an approximate measurement.  It doesn't have to be exact, the pattern is quite stretchy!

Thanks in advance!

The CD case idea is genius!  I was just trying to find a better way to organize my circular needles and could come up with anything.  I might have to try this!

I think I'm going to stick with Essential then.  I have had good luck with it, it's not too much more money, and I think that 25% nylon content really helps with the durability.

Lot's of people are getting socks from me for x-mas this year!

I like their Essential Sock yarn, I think its about $3 dollars?  I seems to hold up to machine washing pretty well (i've worn and washed my socks at least 10 times).  It's soft and the colors are pretty.  I think they also have some multi colored options now!

For those of you have used Palette, have you made socks with it?  I've been curious as to how well it holds up to repeated wearing and washing.  I hate to put all that effort into making socks just to have the heels wear out have just a few uses!

that's genius!  I don't know why I didn't think of that... especially since when I'm done knitting and packing up my work I do the same thing so it won't get all tangled in my knitting bag!
