1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Scroll Bar happiness (it's a scarf!) on: January 05, 2006 04:23:49 PM
Inspired by the crocheted version found here, I knit up a scroll-bar scarf for my husband for Christmas. He loves it!

Here's the happy recipient!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Geeky Onesies on: January 05, 2006 04:18:27 PM
This Christmas was a "only free gifts to each other" holiday for my husband and I.  We're tightening the purse strings due to a little addition due in the spring.

Here are some geeky onesies that I made for the baby to wear when out with his/her computer geek dad.

Perl code (the only non-stitched one)

Classic Mac

Math Cutie

A nod to our first date location

Dad has a matching shirt that says "I'm blogging this"
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Homemade Onesies on: December 04, 2005 04:19:55 PM
Hello folks!

I am expecting a little one in May and I would like to make some onesies from some of my husbands old, yet loved, t-shirts.   I've been searching the web for a free pattern and have come up short.

I'm willing to buy a pattern or try to make one on my own, but I'd love to find a free one.  And it would be such a cute Christmas present for the dad to be.

Thanks for your help (in advance!)
4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / The Lion, the Witch and the Sewing Machine on: November 18, 2005 05:56:08 AM
While commuting on the train yesterday I settled in to re-read one of my favorite books, "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis

I came a cross a wonderful pair of passages that I thought the sewing craftsters would appreciate:

"Well, I'm nearly ready now," answered Mrs Beaver at last allowing her husband to help her into her snow boots. "I suppose the sewing machine is too heavy to bring?"
"Yes it is," said Mr Beaver, "A great deal too heavy. And you don't think you'll be able to use it while we're on the run, I suppose?"
"I can't abide the thought of that Witch fiddling with it," said Mrs Beaver, "and breaking it or stealing it, as likely as not."

"And now," said Father Christmas,"For your presents.  There is a new and better sewing machine for you, Mrs Beaver. I will drop it in your house as I pass..."

I'm sure that most of us feel the same way Mrs Beaver does....and who wouldn't love to come home to a brand new sewing machine Smiley  With any luck these little tid bits will have made it into the upcoming movie!
