11  Re: We love our Blythes/Pullips Round 6! (Signups 9/30-10/07 Sendouts 11/07) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by lulubean on: October 05, 2007 01:38:40 PM
Hi, I just bought my first Pullip and I decided to join this swap too!
This is Yoshi:

She's upset because the one day I want to take pictures of her it finally rains.  I tried to explain that we need the rain but she was having none of it.

Here's one more picture for good measure Smiley

I have another Pullip but he is in the middle of being hybridized (becoming a boy from being a girl) and customized to be a specific character and won't be able to participate Smiley

12  Albert the Owlbear in Knitting: Completed Projects by lulubean on: June 24, 2007 07:37:08 PM
I just finished with 2 hours to spare!  Cheesy I present to you Albert (pronounced the French way) the Owlbear. (click images for larger versions)

Albert is a gift for my husband who loves owlbears.

I used 1.75 skeins of Paton's Allure, felt for the face and assorted feathers.  I might do some embroidery to his face a little later to make black outlines but I'm not sure yet.  The pattern is a jumble of things-  I started out using the directions for Kate from Knitty only backwards to start with the head and then I did basic raglan increases like I was making a top down sweater to get the arms and then did like for a glove for the legs.  He is completely seamless with the exception of his little tail which I had to sew on.

He's not quite as ferocious as a real owlbear but he is loved just the same Wink I wish my pictures of him where better but it's late and the sun had gone to bed.  I think I might too now that my little buddy is done.

13  Re: A Very Dishalicious Gallery for knit dishcloths! :-) in The Swap Gallery by lulubean on: May 24, 2007 02:29:54 PM
Oooahhhahhh, I have something to show too but I still haven't taken pictures of it.  Ms. kahluakiggy sent me a wonderful angel package for this swap.  There is a brightly colored feather and fan dishcloth and a pink/black/white garterlec.  They are both awesome!  She also sent me some sweet extras.  I promise I'll get a picture up soon!  Thanks kahluakiggy, you rock!

Alright, here are the pics!
The package on my very messy desk:

She sent me the two dishcloths, two skeins of Fancy Fur, a magic towel and a set of green coasters.

Here are the cloths by themselves:

So lovely!  Thank you!

I received my final card today from alteredmommy:

The scan doesn't really do it much justice (as tends to happen) but I love it.  I think it's a map of some place in Germany and there is silver foil around the outside edge that shines nicely in non-scan lighting.  Thanks alteredmommy!

alteredmommy received her card from me (even though I totally forgot to put my name on the back of the card *smacks forehead*) and she's having some internet troubles so I'm going to put up a picture for her:

I was inspired by the cancellation marks on the stamps Cheesy

I'm a pretty big nerd at times so when I opened my ATC from ariaya today I squealed and shoved it in my husbands face forcing him to acknowledge how cool it was.

It is titled "Galaxy Map" (click for larger pic)

Yay! Star Wars!  That's R2D2, the Millinium Falcon and a map of the Galaxy.  Thanks again ariaya, I love it.

I got my first card of the swap today!  It's from our wonderful organizer, Queen of Fools.

It looks really spiffy in person and has a waxy coating and a tiny little coin that add to its old Italian charm.  Thanks a bunch Queen.

18  Re: Alphabet ATC P, Q, R Gallery in The Swap Gallery by lulubean on: March 13, 2007 02:20:23 PM
I received from the lovely candikaneiscrafty today.

P is for Postage:

I lurv it!  I actually hoard the pretty stamps off of envelopes I get at work so this is an ironically appropriate card for me Smiley  I love that the stripes in the background mimic the postage cancellation stripes.  Nice work.

19  Time Bomb in CHALLENGE 17 ENTRIES by lulubean on: February 27, 2007 03:16:26 PM
I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a while and this challenge finally got me off my duff.

I started with an Ikea clock I had hanging in the bathroom.  I never liked the yellow but my mom bought it for me and it worked, so meh.  I took it apart, painted it black, made a new face in Photoshop using fonts from dafont.com, added some polymer clay and viola!  A Time Bomb!

I had to add a counterbalance to the back of the clock because the bomb top made it crooked.  If I had thought about that before I glued the face on I would have adjusted the face instead.  The fuse is i-cord with wire stuck up the center and a little pink pompom I had lying around tied to it.  I think in the future I'm going to have to repaint it with some of that spray paint made for plastic but for now I'm happy with it.  I thought about painting the hands to make them stand out but I decided that in the theme of the clock, the only really important hand was the second hand - ticking away the time until the bomb goes off!  Hehe.

Here's what it looked like when it started it's life:

I got my card from OneChordWonder today and I also realized I never posted a picture of frozenknitter's card to me so here they are.

From frozenknitter, it's tooo cute:

From OneChordWonder, I love Miyazaki so this card made me smile a bunch.  It also looks much cooler in person, the scanner didn't like the texture:

Thanks Teeisme, frozenknitter and OneChordWonder!
