1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / How to make this ruffled skirt on: February 24, 2012 06:05:52 PM
Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone had any idea how to tackle a skirt like this:

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / So, I Wanna Make a Princess Dress But..... on: February 21, 2009 08:24:26 AM
Alright, for prom this year I decided it would fun if my friends and I dressed up like various Disney Princesses.  My Princess is Belle, and I really want to recreate the dress she wore in the dancing scene with the Beast.  Anyway, I was searching the internet to see if I could find a pattern or tut or something, and I found this  gorgeous dress on Etsy:

Close-up of the skirt:

But unfortunately, it's $500 and I kinda wanted to make it myself.  Anyway, I found a pattern for the top part of the dress (http://www.voguepatterns.com/item/V2717.htm?search=2717&page=1), but I couldn't find anything for the bottom.  If someone could find a pattern with those ruffles, or a tut, or just some advice, that would be great. I kind of understand how they work (ruched), but don't know what to cut out to achieve that length or if it's two skirts or something.

Thanks in advance!
3  COOKING / Dessert / Margarita Cake [Warning: Large Pics] on: January 24, 2009 09:03:26 AM
So, it doesn't have any actual alcohol in it, seeing as it was for my 18th b-day party.  My party was a luau/Margaritaville theme party, and I saw this idea online.  I used a devil's cake cake mix and white/food-colored dyed green frosting.  For the 'salt' I dyed sugar with green food dye.  My mom found these awesome Margarita candles at Michaels. Anyway, here is the cake.

4  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Flash Costume! on: September 24, 2008 02:32:16 PM
So, for Homecoming week, my school has 'spirit days', which are just dress-up days.  Today was Superhero day, and my friend asked me to make her a Flash Costume.  So, 2 red t-shirts and some yellow felt later.........

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My Friend's Prom Dress on: May 18, 2008 08:28:12 AM
So, our prom was on May 9th, and I made my friend's prom dress.  I used Vogue 8360 and emerald green baroque satin.

(Sorry about the wrinkles-this is after we've been dancing)

And a good view of the back....

And just for fun........our friend......
6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Just in Time for St. Patrick's Day! on: March 13, 2008 06:42:55 PM
So I saw this tutorial https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=176509.0 a long time ago and knew I had to make it.  I made this one with ridiculously cheap St. Patrick's Day fabric, and now I'm addicted to making these!  Anyway, here are my 'artsy' pictures.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Indigo Pencil Dress on: March 13, 2008 03:17:11 PM
So I'm  really proud of this dress.  I drafted the pattern myself and everything.  There are some things I'd change, but this dress was kind of a practice, and I have enough fabric to make another (only required 1 yd.  of fabric and the fabric was only $2 a yard!)  Anyway, here it is!

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / So full of awesomness you may not be able to handle it [PIC HEAVY] on: March 13, 2008 02:15:08 PM
Okay, so I decided to finally get off my bum and actually post stuff.

So this was a gianomorous blue t-shirt from Michaels.  I saw this:  http://i32.tinypic.com/2r4ndiw.jpg and thought, 'Wow, I could kind of make that,'  And then...I did....kind of.  It's pretty much the same but I had three buttons on each side (you can't really tell in the pics due to my crappy photography skills, but one button kind of fell off.  oops) and it doesn't criss cross in the back.

Buttons (the good side Tongue):

Bodice close-up:

Onto the next surgery.  So, I made this dress.  Cuz I was bored.  That's pretty much it.  Oh, well, I used 1 giant black t-shirt and some rad plaid fabric I had.

Bodice (or as my friends and I like to refer to it:  the booble region):

This one was for V-Day.  Um, I used a big pink t-shirt, and I wore a shirt under it and this belt.  The binding is from the rib knit in the original neckline.  Um, the straps aren't finished cuz I was going for the 'punk-edgy' vibe (actually, I was too lazy to Tongue)

Okay, this one has a story.  I bought this shirt in a thrift store and was like, 'I should make a hoodie out of this.'  So I cut the shirt in half on the non-graphic side and tried to put a zipper in.  then my machine decided to eat my t-shirt.  so then it was all holey and too small to make a hoodie, but I had already cut it.  So I set it aside, and behold, I found it again and came up with a solution!.......

And then VABAMM!!!!!!!!!!  Add another t-shirt to the back and you're good to go.

And so you can see the awesomeness of TWO colors (At ONCE!-kinda):

And now just for your amusement, my dog wearing a little hat I made for him out a Post-it note, and clearly not too happy about it.

What do you think?
9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Free Banners on: January 24, 2008 07:27:08 PM
Hello everyone!  For a while now, I've been making banners in Photoshop and thought I'd offer to make free banners, etc.  I know other people have been doing this too, but I really enjoy graphic design, and thought I'd offer.  Anyway, if anyone is interested, jut PM me!

3/13/08:  Just an update, I can still do some more banners, if anyone would like any!  I upgraded my archive-thingie: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v344/cooleoest/Archive/?albumview=slideshow
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Starry Corset on: January 15, 2008 03:28:28 PM
Ah procrastination....midterms are next week and I probably should have been studying instead of making this.  Anywho, I used some cottony star fabric I had lying around (I was gonna make a skirt, but yeah...never did  Tongue)   I used Roethke's tut, but instead of using plastic from cartons, I used the tops of old hanging file folders.

Anyway, here is the results of my procrastination:
