1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / My Boyfriend and I made Christmas Stockings! on: January 04, 2009 12:50:00 AM
My boyfriend and I decided to make our own stockings a few days before Christmas.
It was a lot of fun, and his turned out way better than mine, of course. Smiley
Here they are...

2  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Mod Butterfly Wings! (Now with better pics!) on: November 24, 2008 10:51:40 AM
Thank you, everyone, for the kind words!

Cindress: I will try to explain how the wings are attached to me, but I hope it doesn't confuse you more than it helps. Basically, I took two pieces of long (I would guess about three feet), thin, black ribbon and glued them between the black felt. Then I brought the ribbon over my shoulders, under my arms, around my waist and tied it behind my back. I know that sounds way weird... Sorry!
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: Last Minute Butterfly (Now with better pics!) on: November 05, 2008 08:44:02 PM
Thanks guys! I posted some pictures with better lighting too!
4  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Mod Butterfly Wings! (Now with better pics!) on: November 05, 2008 05:22:31 PM
So, I waited until 8:00 the night before Halloween to finally start my costume and I was forced to stay up the entire night in order to finish it. While I am really happy with the result, but I know that if I wouldn't have procrastinated so badly, I would have embellished it a lot more.

The wings are made out of a wire hanger frame covered in felt. I wasn't strong enough to bend the hangers into shape, so my boyfriend kissed his precious sleep goodbye and stayed up to help. Smiley

Anyways, here it is as my costume.

And now it is retired on my wall.

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: * huge pleated hand bag on: October 03, 2007 05:47:13 PM
That is really great! I love it! Did you say you used a tutorial from somewhere? If so, would you please post a link?
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My First Quilt! on: September 06, 2007 06:47:15 PM
The fabric looks to be largely April Cornell, from the Sonnet collection, for those who are interested - It's put out by Moda. (I have an encyclopedic knowledge of april cornell product, and I very much wish I didn't)

Honestly, I never thought that stuff could be made pretty in any way, and you have somehow managed to succeed!

Um... I think only two of the fabrics were from her line. But, I could be wrong. Most of them were actually fabrics from my grandma's collection, so many of them are over twenty years old.

10  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My First Quilt! on: August 30, 2007 11:36:18 AM
I love it!  Now I want to make a quilt, even though I swore that quilting is a craft I would not touch until I was at least 40...  and I'm not yet...

Love it!!!

Heehee. Well, I am actually only 18 and had never really had a huge interest in quilting either. But when I found a way to make it my own, it made all the difference. Of course, having my grandma there to guide the way made a huge difference as well.
