That first one is just about perfect.  Thanks!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Simple A-line baby dress pattern search... on: February 05, 2010 03:29:42 PM
I'm looking for a pattern for a dress similar to this:

The pleats/darts/whatever those are in the front aren't even really necessary, I'm just looking for the absolute most basic, a-line, button shouldered baby/toddler dress possible.  It seems to me that your average chimp should be able to just wing it with a pattern, but seeing's how I have trouble hemming pants properly, I figure it's best to consult with the experts.

Anyone know of any patterns?  Preferably ones a sewing idiot could follow?  I don't mind paying a reasonable price, of course.  Thanks in advance!

Hahah, the box in the background cracks me up.

Protective ice glaze!  Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Gorgeous!  How's the durability on a resin surface?  Is this an OHMYGAWDUSEACOASTERORITSRUINEDFOREVER type table, or a surekickyourfeetup type table?

Good job getting rid of the swinging interrogation bulb.  They won't need that until she's a teenager, anyways.  Wink

Thank you!  Softening is exactly what I meant!!!  I'm so bad with terminology  Wink  well, you did good with the softening

Yeah, well, I'm making that up, so don't quote me to anyone who knows something about art or we'll both get laughed outta there. Smiley

D@mn. If I hadn't gotten on my moral high horse, I wouldn't feel obligated to post this one. It did arrive in one piece, but when I opened this one, I had a bit of an emotional moment and "altered" it. I'm not at all sorry.

Whether this is serious or not, I have to say "UGH!"

It didn't occur to me to ask for any restrictions on the content of cards I got, because I'm not all that squeamish or prudish. Therefore, it didn't occur to me to ask people not to mail me cards expressing admiration for white power groups that believe in using intimidation and violence against racial, ethnic, religious and sexual minorities; I'll sure remember to mention that preference next time.

I'm going to go disinfect my mailbox now.

Oh my goodness, this is soooo cute!!!  I'm very sorry to hear about your friend as well, I'm sure she'd be beaming if she saw this  Smiley  The colors are perfect and I love the way you blended shades of colors.  The blue in the clouds and the pink spots appear to have some slight shading, like slightly darker on the outside to lighter on the inside?  Am I right or is that just the lighting?  either way, I think it's great!

Yeah, I think I'd probably call it softening more than I'd call it shading, because there's no reference to any light source or anything... I just wanted it to look more soft and squishy and have a little depth.  I was also monkeying around with glazing liquid, because I'm still really new to all of this stuff (this is only my 4th painting) and I'm enjoying experimenting!

9x12, acrylic on canvas board.

This is actually a memorial piece for a close friend who passed away a couple of months ago.  There's no way I'd be able to do a portrait of her that did her justice, so I just kind of thought about her and I remembered that she had a tattoo of a purple cow with pink spots.  So it's kind of a stealth portrait, I guess.

Very cute paintings.  I love the bear under the bed--his/her expression is priceless.  I think it would look even more creepy/funny with a darker/more neutral bedroom scheme, but that's just my 'pinion.  It's very cute (cool?  awesome?) as is.

You're probably right, but oddly enough, creepy wasn't exactly the vibe I was going for.  I wanted everything to be ooey gooey sugary sweet, but with something kind of unexpected going on.  I guess somewhere in my subconscious I think girly girls are evil or something, haha.  Also, while I was painting it I was really getting a kick out of the fact that it looked like someone puked pepto bismol all over the room.

The snails made me laugh out loud, I feel sorry for the mutillated teddy bear, and your owl is very pretty. You did a great job on all three.

The snails are turning out to be the favorite when I show these to people, which surprises me.  I don't know why, but I thought it was my silliest looking painting, but everyone loves it.  Maybe because it's the silliest, I guess.
