1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / Help turn this design into reality... on: January 17, 2011 03:48:56 AM
I have offered to do the wedding jewellery for a friend getting married in summer. She's shown me a lovely simple idea for bracelets for the bridesmaids, but I'm a little stuck on it's creation. Could one of you lovely beading gods and godesses help me out?

I've come up with a few options,  I could use 4 headpins, one for each crystal, but I don't know how to attach the red center bead or the chain. I think I'd rather not have wire through the crystals and then  behind and twisted, in case it were to rub on the wrist. I'm also clueless as to how to get the horizontal crystals sitting nicely centered, and not too high or low to the central bead.

Any thoughts?

Thank you! Uluru
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Seed Bead Cuff Bracelets on: October 13, 2009 02:17:05 PM
So I've been attempting some more chunky bracelets recently... these are wire and seed bead cuffs.

Green and gold one.

Gold and silver one

Blue and purple one.

And wearing them...

What do you think?
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Peruvian String art pendant and matching earrings. on: July 30, 2009 03:51:11 PM
So, I saw this string art as a pair of earrings in a shop. I fell in love with the intricate patterns, the geekery maths, and just the general prettyness. However, they were quite expensive, and rather larger than I can get away with earrings, so I thought... why not try crafting!
I think the traditional peruvian art is done using a coil wrapped around some wire, but I was lazy and used beads instead!

So... onto the pics! Please excuse the terrible webcam quality.

I've moved the earrings down to the chain here, so you can see how they match. I've used the same beads as on the pendant frame, and wrapped them around a larger brown pearl bead. They are on kidney wires.

This is the best picture I could get of the pendant. The string I used was a khaki green, dark turquoise, and a plummy purple.

So... what do you think?

4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Help! Finding Westcott paper trimmer blades. on: March 25, 2008 06:58:52 AM
Hi everyone,
Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but...
I bought a Westcott Paper Trimmer (WCPT01) (like this!)

The blades are now dull and blunt, after making 200 wedding invites for my sister's wedding, but I can't seem to find replacement blades for sale anywhere.
I was wondering if anyone would have any advice as to how to source the replacement blades. I've tried Google, seems Westcott doesn't have it's own store... the craft shop we bought them from is now closed... and I'm a bit stuck!

5  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Cards for valentines day and two birthdays. (BIG pics!) on: January 31, 2008 10:09:28 AM
Haven't made anything in a while, but had a bit of a card making spree today.

This is an 81st birthday card for my grandma.

A 21st birthday card for my sister.

And the beginnings of a valentine's card for the boyf.

(Including pop-up hearts inside!)

Sorry for the pictures, I've got a new camera and am still getting used to it!

6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Summer Coptic (chain stitch) journal (4 pics) on: June 27, 2007 10:27:32 AM
I think this is my first ever project post...Wahoo!!

So, anyway, I've been keeping a journal/ diary/ prayer notebook/ sketchbook/ collagebook ..basically, a "book of everything" for about 7 years. I adore keeping a journal, and reading over old ones is so much fun. So I ran out of pages on Monday night, and couldn't be bothered to get into town and buy a new one.

A few internet searches and some cutting and pasting later, I have a beautiful, rainbow, summery journal, handmade by me, and best of all FREE!!!

Onto the pics...

 Grin Comments/thoughts/criticisms etc welcome!!!

7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Blank Vellum? on: January 24, 2007 09:47:34 AM
Does anyone know of a source for blank, unprinted vellum that you could print on yourself?
(Preferably online, as I'm in the UK)
8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / First Digital ATC (Vincent Van Gogh) on: December 29, 2006 10:17:43 AM

Have worked a lot with paper and fabric ATCs, but this is my first digital ATC.
Really simple, just a photo with text (a quote from Vincent Van Gogh), and some added stars.

Text says: "I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of stars makes me dream."
9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Beginning with T... on: September 21, 2006 09:19:30 AM
I've been invited to a T-party...which is apparently nothing like a tea-party (and here was I looking forward to jam and scones!)
Its a dress-up party, and we have to dress up as something beginning with T.

Ideas already taken are:

A Tennis Player
A Tart
A Transvestite
Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee
A Tree

So... any ideas for costume (bearing in mind I cant knit and can barely sew)?
