71  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: "Fetching" from Knitty: Summer 2006 on: July 23, 2006 02:35:27 PM
the thumb feels totally wrong for me.  how do i do a gusseted thumb, what does that mean? mine are to gauge and they feel wrong on my hands..  im gutted because there are so many beautiful pairs of these in the kals.  at least they were quick.  im trying to work out some changes.

i finished mine last night, apart from the weaving ends in anyway.  but they dont fit very well!  they barely reach my knuckles but on my palm they are a good inch shorter than i'd like.  and the thumb feels weird, like it's stuck at an odd angle.

i'm checking them over for adjustments i could make to the pattern, because i like the cables but i'd prefer much longer gloves myself, at both ends.

hi baigneuse, i checked out your cami and it looks great - i think yours looks closer to my own body size, i'm a 39" bust and i've been wondering whether this pattern would be any good on me or not.  did you make notes of your pattern alterations, id be grateful if you could share them?

have you tried redoing the straps?

i've done everything except the thumb on the left fetching, using blue ryc cashsoft

depending on whether i run out at the end of the second glove, i may use a complementary colour for the thumbs..  i think i started with a full ball but it had lost its label and my scales are not that accurate..

I finished!  I did mine in pink cathay, child sized.

I posted details of alterations on my blog.  i'll be making more of these!

on yarn - im using rowan ryc cashsoft, which is about the same price as the debbie bliss cashmerino, and is really similar, but i think it feels nicer..  i may be imagining this though!

79  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Best way to attach i-cord? on: July 12, 2006 04:18:29 AM
I've knitted a cami top with i-cord straps.  I picked up three stitches on the inside front of the top, my straps are the right length, but i can't work out the best way to attach them at the back.  I've tried a couple of ways but it seems loose and messy.  Whats the best way to attach the three stitches at the end of the i-cord to the top?

I tried sewing it and that looked terrible.  I tried knitting each stitch together with a purl bump on the top, but that looked clumsy.  What I want is something that looks as nice and neat as the front.  I've done google and craftster searches but I can't find an answer..

also - i used the tubular cast on from here for mine because it's pretty and stretchy.
