1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / a threesome? on: June 20, 2008 06:02:55 PM
So what do you get when you cross two old eyeglass chains and a cufflink?

Okay so you have to add a clasp, and some wire cutters and pliers to the mix, but still it's like they had their own little threesome, no?  Tongue
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Modeling Jewelry Myself on: June 03, 2008 09:14:01 PM
I can't tell if modeling my jewelry is hurting or helping sales on my site (well I have no sales, but people's interest at least). Some of what I'm selling is belly button rings (technically curved bars) and I can't get a straight photo of them unless I wear a sample. I make it clear to the customer that the one they will receive will be brand new, never worn, and the first shot is a close up of the design on cloth. I just can't tell if my belly might be creeping people out or helping them decide how it looks. If it's allowed could you give me your opinion. http://madlily.etsy.com

I don't think it's a problem with the necklaces, though if it is please tell me.

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / storms, cupcakes, and skulls oh my! (navel rings) on: May 30, 2008 05:17:22 PM
yeah yeah I know, "she has more???" I'm addicted. I admit it, but I am running out of supplies so it may be awhile before you have to see my ugly ol' belly button again!!! Hopefully you'll find at least one a little bit cute.  Cheesy

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Pricing help, material from grandmother on: May 28, 2008 09:53:16 PM
I need help with pricing these two necklace, or better yet a guideline. I got the beads and pendants (old earrings) from my grandmothers jewelry box. She's passed away so there's no chance in asking her opinion. It took a while converting the jewelry into necklaces, esp. since it is old and delicate (plus old screw on earrings do not want to become necklaces, so they fight back!). So what do you think about pricing? Here are pics, though I'd love a reference to use for future products since I have so much broken stuff from her (she saved everything... it's so much fun!) Thanks!

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Necklaces made from antique earrings on: May 28, 2008 09:39:49 PM
So I was going through my grandmother's jewelry box (she's passed away) and found some of her antique clip on earring (the type you screw on).  A lot of them were broken or just not feasible (in other words "ouch!"). So I decided to turn them into necklaces. I used some old beads from other broken necklaces or random beads I've collected... and so far I've created the following. You can see the earrings displayed as the pendant. I had to do a lot of wire cutting and modifying to turn them into charms so although they may look simple I'm quite proud of them. Thanks for looking!

Oh and although they match quite well (at least in my opinion) the earrings and beads are from completely separate sources, I just got very lucky!

6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Attn: Bloggers, Jewelry Ringsurf? on: May 27, 2008 07:25:26 PM
Is there a jewelry ringsurf for bloggers of craftster? I think it would be a fun way to get to know one another better since we can't really post our blogs without seemingly advertising. I would start one if people are interested. (I hope it's okay I post this! Undecided ) Please don't respond with your blog link, in case you're selling on it.
7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Using a blog to advertise on: May 26, 2008 06:12:16 PM
Alright I read the advise to start a blog to advertise (as well as MySpace and Flickr). So I did that, linked it to my Etsy site... now what. How to get people to go to my blog? I feel like I'm still in the same fix as I am with Etsy.
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Unicorn and storm navel ring... added Kuromi navel ring photo on: May 24, 2008 08:27:50 PM
I'm still on my quest to change the image of belly buttons one outtie (or innie) at a time. I'd like your opinion on the storm cloud esp. (it hangs separately and behind the unicorn). I want the rings to have a touch of whimsy and edginess... do you like it there or do you think I should remove it? Thanks!

I didn't think this warrented a new thread, but I just made this (formally on a pencil), and I love Kuromi so I thought I'd share.

9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / selling body jewelry on: May 21, 2008 08:47:19 PM
Has anyone sold body jewelry in a piercing/tattoo parlour. Or do you know if they have stricter guidelines than regular jewelers? Obviously it's not what they use to pierce, but something in their display case... so I would think it's the same rules, but I don't want to be laughed out the door either. Thanks!
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Shrinky Dink "P" is for Poodle on: May 17, 2008 08:40:25 AM
I made this poodle necklace for my daughter, but let's just say this poodle is driving me nuts. When I made it the first time the ink I used smeared when I sealed it. Now it won't photograph right (he really isn't all grainy). Bad dog... bad bad dog!
