21  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Eureka 7/ Anemone cosplay help? on: February 11, 2008 05:59:49 PM
Ok, I'd like to make an anemone costume for my stepdaughter for an anime convention in march.  Im not a wonderful sewer, Im  new to it.  I made her a eureka one about 2 years ago, but it looks very amature.
Does anyone have any pattern suggestions?  I was sorta leaning towards getting a white tank top and trying to make a circle skirt and attaching them, but Im not sure how to make it poof.

for reference.

Thanks so much!
22  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Valentine's gift for someone who's being "unromantic" on: February 02, 2007 09:28:05 AM
Ok, so my fiance and I both sorta think valentines is a little overdone, overcomercialized, etc.  Still doesnt mean I dont want to do a little something.  Last yr I went all out the weekend before (since Vday was a weekeday), cooked candles etc... and I dont know that he really cared that much.  Not that he was mean...but

So I asked him if he wanted to do anything this yr.  He said, we'll I guess not.  It falls on a weekday, so we'll have his two daughters (tehy stay with us during the week) and we'll have them the weekend before Vday so the oldest can have a sleepover....
SO I guess what Im asking (long windedly...sorry) is whats something I can do for/make for him thats sweet and shows I care, but isnt too much that he's going to look at it and cringe inwardly that its too dumb and girly.

I was going to get him a dvd, but I want to give him something from the heart too.

Any suggestions from other girls out there with decidedly "unromantic" significant others
23  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Other patterns, things to add on: November 06, 2006 11:31:07 AM
I love Jenny's patterns and am getting ready to start stitching.  I was just wondering where people get other patterns online.  I saw one on here (sorry I forgot by who), they did a pin up tea towel and they used a image of a pin up girl they found else where.
I was wondering, what other sites do you all use to mix and match images with Jenny's on your projects?  (im specifically looking for pin ups and flamingos)
24  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / first vacation on: June 13, 2006 07:58:30 AM
My fiance and I are taking our first real vacation together next week and I wanted to make him a little kit.  Im not sure what all to put in it, and I'd like to keep it under $20 if possible.  All I have so far is a cd of "road trip" songs.  We're going to Wyoming to see my family and friends, so I thought a book of wyoming but I dont know what else
