2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Falling Leaves on: January 22, 2010 05:59:33 PM
Thank you, I was originally going to find a leaf patterned fabric and then stitch outlines around random leaves, but I think this turned out better.
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Falling Leaves on: January 21, 2010 04:28:48 PM
Okay, so this was my project for my Grade 12 Textiles class. It's actually my second quilt, and I absolutely LOVE it. I started working on it about the end of September and finished it earlier this week.

This is the overall quilt, the leaves are suppose to appear to be slowly falling from the top.

A close-up of the top corner with the 4 leaves, a lovely blanket stitch if I say so myself (Machine done!)

Corner detail with embroidered bias tape

I'm extrememly pleased with the results. I used 100% cotton for all the squares, the back is a sheet (seamless backing FTW) and a 100% Warm and Natural cotton batting, all to sort of go with the theme of the quilt.

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Bird Wire Sculpture on: July 09, 2009 10:26:18 PM
This teacher wanted plans for every project, like a sketch of what you were about to do o.O
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Bird Wire Sculpture on: July 09, 2009 07:14:06 PM
So I made this in Art class about a 1 1/2yr ago, my first wire sculpture wasn't turning out, so I had to quickly make up this idea, which the teacher didn't like cause I didn't have a "plan" for it. Pfft! But here it is

This is the overall sculpture of a bird flying over a nest of 3 eggs.

This is just to compare the size of the eggs to a quarter, the whole nest pretty much fits in my hand.

And this is the bird, and yes it's beak is green lol. We were limited for colours of wire.

8  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Dragon Quilt on: July 08, 2009 10:50:29 AM
So I made a quilt (first time ever!) in my Textiles class. It was for my bf (at the time). He really likes dragons, so I decided to put a dragon on the quilt, and what and undertaking that was! I've posted with on whatthecraft, but I figured it wouldn't do harm to crafters to post it here too.

This is the overall quilt, the bed it is on is a king size bed, so my quilt was fairly big to say the least

The back, fairly simple

Close up of the blue and teal squares

And the grand finale....

The Dragon! He's an iron-on applique that I made and sewed around. Sewing around the claws had to be one of the hardest things about this quilt, but I'm really happy how it turned out.
