1  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: Short cardboard tubes and tiny flip-top canisters on: March 22, 2009 05:26:29 AM
The cannisters can be filled with rice or such like, taped closed, then put inside small toys, small cushies etc as noisemakers.

I usually get my magnets (individual ones and the strips) from the Guide Shop here in Dundee. They're cheaper there than other places I've seen, and also have a good range of plastic canvas.

They are fantastic! Well done indeed  Grin

This is a great idea! My craft group was given a donation of a massive bag of fuzzy mohair blend yarn, and we were kinda wondering what to do with it all. Storage space is an issue, as is the mixed abilities of our members. I think this is something we would all enjoy doing.

Thanks for sharing. I just have to send our glorious leaders a link to this.  Wink
5  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / U.K. AND IRELAND / FAO Dundee Crafters! on: April 27, 2008 05:01:39 AM
The Highwayman Community Centre is thinking of setting up a kind of SnB thing, but for all crafts, not just knitting & sewing.  You know, sit around, chat, drink tea, work on your own projects with company.

It would probably be in the Coffee Bar area so lots of tables and room to spread out.

Plus the Craft Group has two sewing machines (and a dinky one), and I think I could arrange for them to be available for people to use, and maybe some of the other bits and bobs of equipment (glue gun, heat gun, etc). It wouldn't be a class so no teacher but I would be willing to teach anyone how to knit or crochet, and help out with woolly problems.

It would be on a Friday afternoon, probably from lunchtime-ish onwards, for a couple of hours minimum.

And if anyone gets fed up with sitting down, there's a pool table  Grin

Excellent! Glad it's worked out for you.

What (if anything) did you do differently this time?

The Works has the minis in blue, pink, orange and lilac for 49p, and packs for 4 for 1.99, but only in blue, pink, green & turquoise (in Dundee at least), which is much cheaper than WH Smiths.

I was soo tempted to buy a cheap pair of canvas shoes just to draw on them with my new pens.   Grin

Hey, she's extremely cute! Far too smiley to be creepy. She gives me the same kind of feeling as Gilly the Perky Goth.

You've done a great job there, spacexbunny.
9  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / U.K. AND IRELAND / Re: Wooden or plastic matchboxes? Do they exist? on: July 14, 2007 03:13:37 PM
I've just had a little google myself (UK, of course) and found these

Hope that helps a bit!
10  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Union Jack Mohawk Hat - mildly disastrous on: July 12, 2007 06:35:29 AM
The book would be so much better if it included swatch measurements after felting. This is exactly why I'm reluctant to knit this hat, even though I needs it (but with a Saltire instead). My full rant is in the reviews section.

So much for 'Punk' knitting - exact yarn only - no substitutes if you want a good first time result.  Undecided
