61  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: where do you get your zipper foot? on: June 15, 2007 10:04:21 PM
My sewing machine came with a zipper foot, but I usually get all my parts from a store called Sawyer's Sewing. I don't know if it exists near where you are, but I just think it's fantastic!  Grin

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to know what your favorite picks for free blog webites are. I have a livejournal, but it's more of a personal thing and I was thinking of making a more public art/craft blog, with another provider, instead of subjecting all my livejournal friends to my image-heavy craft posts that they're probably not overly interested in..

Who do you use, and why are they the best pick for you and your artsy/crafting needs?
64  CANADA / British Columbia / Re: Victoria FIBRE FEST! on: June 11, 2007 09:31:35 PM

I sat down with some nice girls with my friend Kate and crocheted a hideous flower because I didn't bring colours with me that matched at all. Oh well..

I bought some of that Alpaca roving they had for sale and made myself a drop spindle. Now I'm addicted to something else!

I went to the Boutique de Laine on Estevan. It's tiny, but they've got some nice things there!
65  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Plying singles from a drop spindle? on: June 11, 2007 09:23:47 PM
I went to Victoria BC's Fibre Fest yesterday and it was AMAZING.
A lady there taught me to use a drop-spindle (and here I was a knitter/crocheter, thinking I wasn't going to learn anything new!). I bought 75g of Alpaca roving (for $3!!) and I've started spinning just a little baby single.

After that's finished, how would I go about plying the whole thing?

Thanks, you guys are just lovely!

I can't for the life of me figure out how you did the book one..

Did you sew right through the cover?

Can anyone explain to me what a wist is, and why a craftster would have one?

.. I mean.. yeah.. the whole system has kind of evaded me.
69  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: not really Knucks anymore on: February 11, 2007 09:02:40 AM
I was thinking of doing that with the Knucks, myself, but I was far less brave. I have long spindly piano fingers, too. They were my first "piquant" as well, great job!
70  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: "give peace a chance" bomber hat on: February 11, 2007 08:59:50 AM
That is one HANDSOME HAT.

I'm terrible with, hats and the only ones that look good on me are earflap ones, that tame my GIANT hair that poofs out from underneath of hats.

Would you happen to have a pattern? I think it's absolutely adorable.
