2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Table Coverings on: June 09, 2014 11:49:21 AM
I participate in a few shows a year, mainly selling handmade jewelry.  I like my display pretty well, but the thing that drives me batty the most is the fact that no matter what I do my table cloths will end up pretty wrinkled when I put together my setup.   I usually use flat bed sheets as the bottom layer of table covering since the length is good and they are on the inexpensive side (I only do 3 or 4 shows a year and really don't want to pay a ton for table cloths).   Then, I put an actual table cloth over them in a contrasting color.   The top table cloths are not really the trouble, it is the bed sheets that drive me batty.  I can spend tons of time the day before laundering and ironing the sheets, but the next day its wrinkle city.  I'm not talking about creases where the sheets were folded, I'm talking it looks like they were balled up and tossed in a trash bag.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a way to pack and travel with the sheets, or should I try a different fabric?  What fabrics are resistant to wrinkling?   I know velvet is, but I really hate velvet of any kind.

Does anyone else have issues with this, or am I just super OCD?

Here is a photo of my booth at a Christmas show last year.   It was a double-sized booth with another gal, so they are not normally so large.
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Put a Bird On It! Swap - Send out Friday July 27th on: August 10, 2012 05:21:19 PM
My partner, adrienne_bowers, recieved from me last week and gave me the go ahead to post pics of what I sent her.   So, here they are:

First, a bluebird hoop.    Its a 7in hoop and stitched on printed cotton.   This was my first time using french knots and lazy daisies!

Next, an owl necklace.   Its about 26in long,

Then, a bird nest ring.

Some owl earrings.

A little owl stuffie.   I was aiming to make him ornament sized.   He was my first stuffie.  Yellow and grey was one of Adrienne's favorite color combos.

And, all the store bought goodies.   There is an owl tin I found in a thrift store, two packs of bird stickers, a pocket notebook, a magnetic notepad, a 2013 datebook (I put the swallow on it), and a big swallow magnet.

Bonus pic of owl necklace just because I liked  the way I packaged it.

It was a great swap for me.   I hope adrienne_bowers enjoyed her items as much as I enjoy mine!   Smiley

Thanks, guys.   It was hard to let the necklace go.   That owl charm was the last the store had and I so want some kind of necklace like it for myself!

Here are the pieces I made for the Put a Bird on It swap.

Here is an owl necklace I made.   The stones are pink rhondite (I think).   I forgot to get an official measurement of it, but in the process of making it I measured it at over 24in. once.   I'm roughly guessing it is about 26 in.   So, its a long one.

Here he is boxed up to go!  I just love this pic.

A bird nest ring I made.   The nest is made from tarnish resistant silver plate wire and the eggs are freshwater pearls.

Owl earrings.   I found the charms while vacationing in Indiana and the beads are vintage German glass.

C+C welcome!

Here is a cute hoop I made for my partner in the Put a Bird on It swap.  I got the image from Needlecrafter and transferred it onto the fabric.  Everything is stitched in backstitch, lazy dasies and french knots.  It is in a 7in hoop which I pained the edges white and put ribbon along the sides.

This was my very first time using lazy daises and I FINALLY figured out french knots!

This is how I finished the back.   Sadly, it came out a bit sloppy.   I usually add stuffing to the back to make the piece pop a bit, then use a running stitch to pull all the excess fabric into the hoop.   After that, I use a little bit of Alieene's fabric glue on the hoop and edge of fabric to glue scrapbooking paper down.   This time I had a brand new tube of glue and I think I used way too much and also, the paper was thinner than I usually use.  :-/   So, I have the greasy looking staining on the paper.

C+C welcomed!

I received from Adrienne_bowers a few days ago and here are the pics of my great package!

She made me a cute birdie pouch:

A super cute and fuzzy knitted(?) or crocheted(?) owl.   He is so cute!

A handmade ceramic pink egg, framed fabric owl, and owl pin.

A very pretty pink and grey bird box.

Two necklaces!   Pink owl and peacock feathers.

And, last but not least, a vintage owl glass!   Isn't it great?!

Thanks so much Adrienne!   It was a wonderful package.
