11  Re: Big Project Stitch A-long 2012 in Needlework: Stitchalongs by StarFire on: February 17, 2012 09:21:57 AM
First progress shot of my Blue Willow piece.   I started on Wednesday morning and this is after about 3 hours of stitching over the past couple of days.  I feel like I'm moving slower than usual, maybe I am.   This thing has TONS of quarter stitches and the chart gets hard to see at times. lol.

Ok.   I'm game for this.   This here is the next project that I have decided to work on.  It looks kind of like a "blue willow" pattern.  I'm going to be stitching it on 28 ct. white Monaco, over two threads.   The final piece measures about 11x11.  I have never worked on something like this before...think the highest count I have ever stitched on was 22 ct. aida.  Plus, this has quite a few specialty stitches I have never even heard of!  I'll post pics of progress...but for now all I have is a photo of the final product.  It is in the March issue of Cross Stitch and Needlework magazine.

Sorry for the glare.  Glossy magazine pages do that.  Tongue

I got my package from bec99 ALL the way from Australia!

First we have this sweet little box.   She painted it a pale yellow and adhered ribbons, buttons, and rinestones to the sides of it!   Sadly the trip around the world shook some of the buttons loose.   Tongue

The box was filled with loads of goodies!  See!

Here are the goodies outside of the box.   We have fabric embellishments, crochet flowers, fabric patches, and butterfly patches.

Here are her handmade jewelry goodies!   Lace earrings, cross earrings, a key and lock earring pair, and last but not least an altered key that I think she got from my pinterest.  The key is totally decked out in rinestones and strung on a necklace.   Oh, and a pair of flower bobby pins!

And, last but certainly not least, a hoop!   Its a cross stitched cage with lavender birdies!   I think I love this the most, its so awesome!  Its also the first hoop I have received.

Thanks for an awesome package, bec99!   Can't wait for you to get yours!

14  Stitched Pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by StarFire on: December 11, 2011 02:58:33 PM
Ever since seeing something similar on Pinterest, I have been dying to make one of these on my own!   This is just a very simple pattern I drew up myself and stitched using half stitches on 14ct. perforated plastic.  When I was done, I adhered the piece to the bezel cup using E6000 glue.  I was so happy with this that I went to the library and picked up 4 books of tiny embroidery patterns I want to try next!

C&C welcome!

15  Punching holes in brass in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by StarFire on: August 14, 2011 10:21:18 AM
I recently purchased some brass stampings that I want to use to make bracelets.  The problem is, they have no holes in them to loop wire or other stringing materials through.  So, how do I put holes in them myself?  I know about Dremel tools and such, but I do not own any and am kind of afraid the metal could be too hard.  I saw hole punching kits at the hardware store where you use a hammer and the punch tool.

Basically, I really need to have a bracelet done by the 24th for my Aunt's wedding.  I really don't want to spend tons of money buying a Dremel setup for this project.  So, any suggestions?

Here is a pic of the stamped piece.

Oh. My. Firetrucks!  I recieved this most fabulously awesome box from t33ng1rlsqu4d today.  I can't express how much I am in awe of her work...its just...SQUEE!   I think photos should do the talking (and there are MANY of them):

Behold the mighty awesomness that is Gordon the Goldfish!  Yes, he has a name already!  I name EVERYTHING.  Cheesy

Side view.  I love all the texture she put on the box, on Gordon, and how it looks like he is splashing up from the water.

You pull his tail to see what is inside the drawer!  Squee!  Here is the filled drawer.

The loot all spread out.  So much was inside!

The Loot:

-Bird Silhouette earrings
-Many round buttons and star buttons
-Assorted beads
-Pair of google eyes
-Charms = owl, "with love", leaf, tiny fork, and a fish!
-Ladybug button
-Tiny bluejay <3
-Swallow sticker

Thanks sooooo much t33ng1rl!!   I dont feel worthy!   Cheesy

Haven't posted anything in a super long time, so I thought I would share one of my newest creations...BirdSkull!  I want to leave it framed in the hoop, but am unsure of how to finish the back.  Any suggestions?

Pattern by Urban Threads.

Sorry about the slight blurring in the photos.

C&C more than welcomes!

19  Recent Beaded Goodness (pic fatty) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by StarFire on: August 26, 2009 04:21:03 PM
I've been a busy little bee!  Here are some pic, because I really love some of these!

Pearls + Aquamarine =

Personally, I think it would make a pretty piece for a bride.  The aquamarine adds a hint of "something blue."

Pink Rhondonite + Pink Freshwater Pearls =

Rainbow Art Glass + Black Seed Beads =

Red Jasper + Loads of eye pins =

The jasper has all this great detail that I thought it looked best on its own.

Aqua Terra Jasper + Loads of eye pins =

I fell in love with these stones at first sight.  <3

Crystals + Antiqued Brass =

I just could not get a real great pic of these, not matter what I tried.  However, they are much more sparkly in real life!  Didn't do much other than piece them together, I got those great discs from a dealer at a travelling bead show.

Green Adventurine + Crystal =

Cute and simple.  Who needs more?

Sterling silver + Pineapple Quartz + A Bird in Flight =

I think this necklace is my fave (that I have made) ever.

Any C+C?  Leave it here, please!  Thanks for looking!

20  Re: Big Project Stitchalong 2009 in Needlework: Stitchalongs by StarFire on: March 03, 2009 05:28:04 PM
Wow, everyone's projects look great!

Here is what I'm working on right now.   It was bought and started in late October.  I had intended on giving it to my Mom for Christmas, but it just didn't happen.  It has been put aside a few times (there were family deaths and I got a job promotion), but I have been working on it pretty steadily for the past couple weeks and I am on vacation right now.  I just finished the clouds today...I hate working with white.  =P

Onto the pics!

The overall project.  Not very big at all.  Think its a little over 5x7".

Detail of what I have done.

What the finished project will look like.

I'm going to start on the background (areas outside the circle) tonight.  Hope to have it done, matted, and framed in time for Mother's Day!

I'll try to post progress pics!
