21  my neopolitan marsupial tote in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by leesespieces on: October 05, 2006 05:50:06 PM
i am quite proud of this bag. my new favorite color combo is neopolitan and i love how this came out. i doubled the length of the straps because i don't like tiny straps. the cherry charm was made for me by milliefern on etsy, i think they totally "make" the bag. =)

i think i'm gonna line it too, so it'll be easier to put a snap on it.

22  stash busting scarf and blanket-along!!!!! in Knitalongs by leesespieces on: October 05, 2006 05:46:50 PM
okay guys, christmas is like 2 1/2 months away and i know i'm not the only one with yarn on my list. nor am i the only one with limited space for my yarn (it barely fits in the 2 tubs that i have it in). plus, i need something thoughtless to work on while i'm slaving away in the books during the college semester. so i'm proposing a stash busting scrap scarf and/or blanket along. i started a scarf with a bunch of conveniently matching pastel acrylic scraps i took from my mom when i started to crochet, this picture doesn't do the colors justice:

i have a few other scarves planned as well, and a neopolitan blanket. so who's with me???

24  camo fabulous beanie! in Crochet: Completed Projects by leesespieces on: September 09, 2006 06:29:37 AM
okay, so this started out as the boy beanie from happy hooker, but as i got halfway through i realized it would be way too small (i like hats to cover my ears) and i never seem to be happy with a hat pattern. plus this is for my best friend for christmas so i wanted to make it a little bit girly but not overly so, because that's not her lol. soo here it is!

my puppy has already claimed it LOL.

it's all done =) except it turned out to be less than a stash buster lol because i ran out of my 2lb and wanted to make it bigger so i ran out and got 2 more 7oz skeins and finished it. i like the size, and after a few washes it should be really nice lol, apparently my puppy thinks so already.

27  my pink and black granny blanket!!!! in Crochet: Completed Projects by leesespieces on: September 05, 2006 08:01:32 PM
this thing took me like 3 weeks, it was originally supposed to be a stash buster because i had 2lb of red heart, 1 pink and 1 black, but i ran out and iwanted it a little bigger so i ended up running out and getting another 7oz of each color. now i have left overs from them LOL. and the "model" is my baby girl holly, she wouldn't get off the blanket once i put it down lol i guess i'll have to make her her own for christmas =)

I made this blanket with all (ok some) of my scraps

It is just one giant granny square, when a color ran out I just tied a new one on and kept going, it is a good size couch blanket, my boys just love to cuddle with it

wow, first i must say, kudos to you patient and talented ladies with the extremely aerodymanic hooks and hands - all those hexagons are gorgeous and they look AWESOME together.

i quoted the granny square blanket though, because i'm doing something similar with 2 pink and black red heart pounders, as the beginning of my destashing-so-fiance-can-restash-me process. and i think it may be my tension but my granny square corners are coming out kinda pointy and it's kinda floppy. i don't know if it's my tension or the funky difference in thickness between the 2 yarns (the black is thicker for some reason), but maybe you guys could help me? here's some pics, although i've worked on it since taking these and loosened my tension, and it seems to help a little bit, but i still think i'm doing something wrong:

i suppose the floppyness doesn't really matter too much as long as it's not extreme, because i doubt anyone will notice when it's just draped over the couch i'll be getting soon. i'd just really like to know what i shouldnt be doing so my next scrap blanket will look better. thanks guys, and keep up the beautiful work. =)

29  felted bag, 2 amigurumis, a cupcake, and a hat...walk into a bar.. haha in Crochet: Completed Projects by leesespieces on: August 21, 2006 09:50:37 AM
i just dove back into crochet after getting tired of sewing a few weeks ago and these are my so far finished products of my new stress reliever:

i decided to wing it and make up a cupcake. it would've looked cuter if i hadn't overstuffed it. =/

my first sugar n cream beanie! i totally butchered the pattern though (it's the free one on their site) because it didnt sound like it would've even fit my dog.

my version of hello kitty and a what is supposed to be and someday will be a koala, using the amigurumi dude pattern on crochet me.

last, and my favorite, my black felted bag!!! i used the berroco sanibel pattern and figured it would come out huge, which it did, because i used patons classic merino wool and a K hook i believe. i ran it through my washer 3 times and it is now about half the size it was before felting. there's a plastic bag sticking out of it because i stuffed it with them while it was drying so it would dry round. =)

let me know what you guys think!

30  why is my granny square coming out funny? =( in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by leesespieces on: August 21, 2006 09:35:02 AM
i started making a granny square blanket using the granny square instructions in the happy hooker book. for those of you who don't have the book, it's the basic 3 dc's, ch 1, 3 dc's, and on the corners 3 dc's, ch 2, 3 dc's, etc. but my square is coming out funny. the corners aren't 90 degree angles and it won't lie flat. my mom suggested taking out the ch 1's between the clusters of dc's and that helped a little bit, but it still looks funny. i don't know if these pics will help but here:

i should also mention that for some reason the black seems much thicker than the pink, even though they're both red heart worsted weight yarn from walmart. so is there anyway i can fix this now, or will something like blocking fix it at the end?
