1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quilt-a-long! on: June 20, 2007 08:04:02 AM

That looks so amazing! Your excellent stitching is enviable. Smiley

Also, I just wanted to chime in and say that 'You Are My Sunshine' is *not* a lame song! I sing it to my dog (ok, that looks little lame written down, but he's older and it's sweet, I promise), and he absolutely adores it.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: The Crafty Wedding Craftalong! on: June 20, 2007 07:57:13 AM
All cut up, that sounds lovely!

Pumpkin pie at the reception may just be the most brilliant idea in the history of weddings.  Grin
3  Pennsylvania / Pennsylvania: Southeast / Help a Craftster De-Stash Papercrafting Supplies! on: June 09, 2007 06:13:12 AM
Hey guys! I'm, moving out on my own in two weeks, and I'm trying frantically to downsize my various crafty stashes. I've decided that I don't do enough papercrafting/bookmaking anymore to justify the insane amount of handmade paper and ephemera that I have.

Instead of just throwing it all out (eek!  Shocked), I'd love it pass it all along to a papercrafting god/goddess in the West Chester, PA area. (It's WAY too much to ship. I can't even imagine how much it would all cost.)

But I'm not sure how! Does anyone know of somewhere I could post this and get a response from some serious papercrafters? I was thinking Craigslist, but I want to make sure this going to a very good home, so I figured Craftster would be a good place to start.

Just FYI, I have lots of rolls of paper (flower / plant inclusions, block prints, a roll of papyrus), and about a box and a half of smaller things, including TONS of filler paper for small books, deckle edged paper, card stock, and scraps of handmade/unusual papers.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thanks for the comments, everyone...
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: craft bucket? Not sure what to call this bag! on: May 03, 2007 03:33:50 AM
Awesome! I love making this style of bag. They're pretty quick, and I think they look a lot harder than they are.

Great job on the bias tape!

If you don't mind me asking, where *did* you get that incredible fabric?  Cheesy
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quilt-a-long! on: May 02, 2007 07:22:54 PM
Finally got around to taking some pictures...

It's ginormous, so these tiny pieces of it are the best shots I could get for now. There simply isn't anything in my house big enought to put it on! And it's wrinkly, from being folded and put away so many times. Forgive me.

113 x 106" (king-ish)
rectangles are 4 x 7"
11 colored rectangles per row, and 9 colored rectangles across

The best part is....that every single rectangle is a different fabric! I got to use a ton of scraps and neat pieces from my stash. Chances are, if you've sent me fabric in a swap, ever, it's in this quilt.

And how many fabrics did I have to buy to achieve this? About six. And that's only cause I wanted to 'masculinize' it a bit. Between me and my mother, we have WELL over 100 different fabrics. Packrats, unite!

So far, I've got three 'columns' quilted. 6 to go...and did I mention I'm doing it by hand? My fingers are all kinds of funky right now.

This is a housewarming present for the future mr. avsceriline, for when we finally get a place together. I know it's not too exciting, as quilts go, but I am looking forward to snuggling under it one day.

Anyway....let me know what you think!
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quilt-a-long! on: April 19, 2007 09:40:03 AM
I am loving the quilts that have been posted here so far! You guys are inspiring me to do some more work on my monstrosity.

I just got a brand spankin' new digital camera today, so maybe I'll actually post some pics tonight! Anyone have any ideas as to how to take a decent picture of a king sized quilt?  Tongue
8  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / Re: Seed Bead, NOT Stranded bead projects. on: April 09, 2007 12:42:40 PM
(I also find it very frustrating when beautiful woven pieces get no comments, while simple strings with a couple of sanrio charms get a zillion pages.... But then I'm probably a beading snob.)

Sophie: A snob you are not!
As a sewer, it breaks my heart to see amazingly gorgeous creations go unmentioned, and for 'omfg i sewed 2 t-shirts in2 a miniskirt' posts to get eighty million responses. But I bite my tounge -- to each his/her own -- and I just make every effort to compliment some of the incredible sewing posts!  Grin
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Quilt-a-long! on: April 09, 2007 09:31:05 AM
Ooh, I'll join! This may be just the kick in the pants I need.

I am currently working on a king sized lucky coin quilt. It measures approx. 105 x 115, and will contain 103 different fabrics when it is complete.

As of right now, I have the whole top done, and it's sandwiched with the batting (my first time using nice cottony stuff...I'll never use poly again!) and the backing. I'm quilting it by hand (it's too big to do on my machine), and I have 2 of the 9 'strips' that make it up completely quilted.

I hope to post some pics tonight.

Good luck to everyone! Smiley Can't wait to see some more pics!
