1  garbage bag bag in Crochet: Completed Projects by kirstyd on: August 22, 2008 11:52:28 PM
Just about killed my hands making this and it's kind of ugly, but I have chanelled my grandmother (who used to crochet plastic doyleys to sit her pot plants on!) and made a bag from plastic shopping bags. I don't think I'll do it again because it has really hurt my hands; they are aching!

It's amazing how much colour variation there is in these bags!

2  Re: Favorite Kids' Book Swap R.3 Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by kirstyd on: September 06, 2006 01:39:14 AM
Here are a few pics of the things I sent Ephalba. I was her swap angel after she got flaked on for this swap. She's received them now so I can show you all!
The tote bag has the cover image from The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. The paper bag journal is inspired by The Paper Bag Princess and the key ring has Dr Seuss illustrations in it. I also sent Vegemite - the whole world needs to discover the INDESCRIBABLE taste of this sludge spread!

3  Re: Million Square Quilt Gallery in The Swap Gallery by kirstyd on: July 29, 2006 08:03:08 PM
I'm really glad now that I sewed  everyone's squares as they arrived (and that I decided to make something SMALL). I needed another project like the proverbial hole, so I've gone like the clappers and it's finished. It could probably have done with a border of more little squares but I was at the "scream and throw it in the corner" stage. I've included some detail shots of my favourite blocks. Thank you, everyone! This was so much fun - I really love this quilt and I would never have made it if I hadn't done this swap Smiley

ps I may make a pattern from this. Haven't decided yet.

Hi guys
I couldn't wait to get sewing and see what the pieced blocks look like with my applique blocks! These blocks have fabrics from Stephen, Kitty and CharlieBrown - thank you! I intend to keep sewing as the squares arrive, that way I'll keep on top of it and it won't end up in a bag in the cupboard.
I love the way it looks  Smiley

ps thanks, Starla, for the heads-up about the gallery Kiss

I couldn't wait to sew some of these squares together and see how they look with my applique blocks!
I'm really happy - love it.  Smiley

6  Little Noah and his duds in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by kirstyd on: June 17, 2006 12:38:35 AM
This little bear is only 6" high(in these pics he bigger than lifesize!!) and my daughter has been making clothes (and a cupboard to put them in!) for him for quite a while now. I think she's done such a great job that I told her I'd put photos here for everyone to see.
Here's her message:

Little Noah (or Wittle Noah!) is the cutest little bear on the Earth. He was only $1.50 - good deal, I'd say.Seeing as how he was so cute, I decided to try some clothes on him. It started off with a barbie t-shirt and ended up with his own wardrobe! Grin

Ready for the office.

Gangsta styles yo!

Ready for a rainy day.

Complete with his own wardrobe!

7  Jewel Box Scrap Quilt in progress in Quilting: Completed Projects by kirstyd on: June 08, 2006 11:18:16 PM
Yee Ha! Found these blocks last night in a box. I made them three and a half years ago and today I sewed them all together (this photo shows them layed out before I stitched them together, but the light's too dull now to take a good pic of the finished top). Thinking about maybe adding a border, but I don't know Huh I love making scrap quilts to use up (??) the leftovers in my scrap basket. Funny how I never reach the bottom of the basket  Grin
